Sid Meier's Civilization Beyond Earth - Alpha Centauri sequel announced!

Don't know why a reskinned Civ V would bother me anyway (despite the fact it's just a buzz term) because of how much I love Civ V.

Yeah I'm thinking the same, for the same reasons.

I think the only downside is that we're going to have to wait until all the DLC is out to get the complete game, as sadly that's the way things work these days. But hopefully the initial game is still going to be great. :)

Unit art/models, they look nice!

Very nice :)

The game has Directx 11 and my card can only have DX10, but according to the list it's showing my card will work, so I'll give it a go anyway.

I tried playing Civ V, but couldn't get in to it at all.

I didn't play it for very long though.

However, the sci-fi theme of this is more interesting to me. Do you think it might be worth getting, or should I give Civ V another go first to see if I can get to grips with the game mechanics?

I loved SMAC, and whilst there are a lot of things missing from a SMAC successor, Terraforming, Unit Workshop etc. the game from what I've seen is actually looking like a lot of fun.

The experience they've had from Civ 5 means it will launch in a much better state than Civ 5 did (I assume), the Aliens look interesting in how you choose to deal with them, the map does look Alien and there are some cool features. Definitely buying on release :)

Question, I really likes Civ 5 but I got crap at it fast, so I gave up. I want to get back into it. I don't have any expansions, is it worth booting up the 'vanilla' version now and getting some time in before this is released or will this feature a basic tutorial as well so I can just start with this expansion?

The price suggests it's as good as a full retail game so I can only imagine it's got a fair amount of content.

It's a full retail stand alone game, if you play Civ 5 I would seriously recommend getting the brave new world and gods and kings expansions it's so much better with them
