Sigma 35mm f1.4....?!!

I had a 24L as my only lens on my 30D for 18 months or so and I really liked that combo so I think 35mm may be a little long but it could still work. I hope that they are planning a wider version of the 40mm 2.8 pancake, 16mm or 24mm, as it looks like a really decent performer.
 
Bokeh is very smooth on my copy , not the best (there is some asymmetry) but looking at photos of the sigma 30mm diffidently better than that, and very high edge acuity form f/1.8 right o the corners.

It's well known for it's nervous Bokeh, it's still a good value lens though. I prefer the Sigma rendering, but then I shoot people mainly (wide open) so corners aren't an issue. If you want sharp across the frame and are stopping down, the Nikon is the one to go for.

Yeah, I'd have liked the 24L but too pricey for me at present. That's another reason I like the 30mm, it's just a little wider on a crop. I'm not sure we'll see too much wider than 40mm as a pancake, apparently that'll be difficult to physically design for EF mount.
 
Mine arrived today, it nails focus perfectly, no complaints. I think this one is a keeper! SOOC quick snap.

^^^^ tell me about it, my Christmas bonus was enough to buy a D800E but that money had to be put aside for our wedding. Also looking to buy a house in the next couple of years so have to convince my OH why any savings are not going towards a house deposit.


That aside I did sneak in a little 85mm f/1.8G - truly wonderful lens for the money, will work well on a FF camera.

+10 MA seems to be working very well for me.

Very satisfied with this lens.

Oh and this Len hasn't left the camera since I got to Shanghai, what an amazing piece if kit!!!!
 
Are you guys using this lens on full frame or crop cameras ?, it looks great but if there is a 30mm coming out then I think ill wait for that as 56mm on crop is still not that wide
