Sigma 35mm f1.4....?!!

Hmm interesting, Onestop digital have it for £555~ but with the addition of 3 years warranty which I assume they will arrange.

The import duty may happen yeah but even with duty added on, it's still going to be saving some £.

Onestop pay you the import duty back if you get stung. Or at least they used too.

They're awesome there!

Very close to ordering the holy trinity of sigmas. 35/50/85...

Well I'm ordering tomorrow and am in Belgium at the weekend so if it arrives Friday then be back next week with proper shots :-)

Onestopdigital it is!

VERY interested in what you think of it.

Weighing up the pros and cons of having a 35 or 50 for some projects coming up and leaning more towards the 35. This could be the lens for me as i can't afford to go for the L.

For me it was a case of not being able to justify why I'd pay the extra for the L when the optical quality of the Sgma appears to be as good, or better, than it at a huge price difference!

And then there's the prospect of updating the firmware and fine tuning it down the line with the dock too.

Did you get them to price match the ebay seller?

Onestop are cheaper than the eBay seller and that's with the 3year warranty :)

Sigma's new tweaking tool is a very good idea. I can't wait to see what lenses they'll be bringing out, and how exactly it will work. On paper it's got loads of promise.

The order of course. Should be here Friday, I chose the express DHL/FedEx option which is free for the Xmas period.

FFS, I bought the 5D3 with 24-105mm so I wouldn't have to buy any more lenses.

Then I see the test shots for this :(

My plan was to go FF with a 24-70, at the minute I can't afford both. Changing one doesn't work right now as my EFS lens won't fit.

Seeing more and more of these sigmas makes me consider going primes to give me the lenses on my crop which will then be useful when I do go FF as well as now.

Looking forward to seeing some results from this lens, that's for sure.

If I had the cash I'd snap it up in a heartbeat. It would mean selling my 50, 24 and maybe even 90 to put it together, however, and if I had that sort of money it could well be more worth my money getting a 5D2 so that I have micro adjust on my 85 1.4

Was just reading a Zeiss 35/1.4 review.

Interesting thing that I never paid attention to. Age of the lens when it was released.

Canon 35/2.0 - 1990
Canon 35/1.4L - 1998
Canon 50/1.4 - 1993
Zeiss 35/1.4 - 2010
Sigma 35/1.4 - 2012

The 35L is holding out well for something 15 years old, so Sigma really have no excuses if it doesn't perform, they had a decade to get their 50/1.4 ready and they had a decde and a half to try to get it the 35/1.4.

Which makes me think Canon should really update their 35L and 50/1.4 (the 1.2 is only out in 2006). Seeing they just updated their 35/2.0

there's rumors that the 50/1.4 is being updated at the beginning of next year but we shall see

Yeah but it's canon so will be £900 in the uk, so won't be a realistic option for 2 years ;)
id love to disagree as i am after a 50mm 1.4
but i think you might be correct, it will have to be cheaper the the 50mm L
but theres a big price gap between that and the 1.8

The tracking details came through this morning, already left HK via DHL, the tracking site is gonna get F5 treatment all day today ¬_¬

Hmm actually... Could put the put on for crimbo... if I then sell the 50 and 24 on top of that... This might actually happen! :O

Do we know if the usb dock thing can do microadjust for older lenses (85 1.4) or is it just for the new lenses? Does the 35 come with the dock as standard?

Additional purchase it aeems, only works with newer lenses by the looks of it as they contain the new boards that support it. What's up with your 85? I found mine to need no micro adjust on the 5D3.

Looking forward to seeing the results this produces in the field with you mrk, I'm loving using my 35mm f2 but the HSM AF and all round lovelyness of this new sigma is very tempting.
