Has anyone successfully downloaded the 2GB update yet? Mine goes at such a pathetically slow speed, every time I try, that I have given up. You cannot do anything else on the PS3 while it is downloading, either.

I downloaded the second of the 2gb updates (I already had the first from the initial beta, and from what I understand there are two seperate 2gb updates to download for newcomers) - it took approximately 3 hours yesterday morning. What ISP are you with? As it's P2P based it could be your ISP given the traffic a very low priority during normal hours which would explain why it's going extremely slow for you.

I would wait until tomorrow when everyone else gets there code as, in theory at least, it should be quicker with more people downloading from the P2P service. There's also a bug I believe which prevents you from resuming the update which should be corrected by then. There's no rush anyway as the servers are not open at the weekends.

Surprisingly it is going fast today, got 700MB in the last 30 minutes, so it is not too bad. Last couple of days it was barely managing 25 MB in about 30 minutes (no matter what time of day). My ISP (BE) does not do any traffic shaping, so it is unlikely to be that.

P2P is a terrible way to distribute game content like this tbh. Gutted there will be a 2nd 2GB update after this.

In the full game this will all be on disk. I am guessing this 2Gb crap is different builds etc being pushed out each time the Beta changes?

Still rubbish though, wanna play a game on my PS3 but I am 1.6GB through the 2.6GB update so seems silly to cancel it now. Unless they fix this not being able to resume partial downloads this Beta is gonna suck. No matter how many people are on the Beta, with P2P I expect everyone will get slow downloads.

First party game, can't even afford a proper download server.

Edit: Completed download, no second download (thank goodness).

The 2gb is the majority of the content. There was a 300meg update going from 1.0 to 1.1, and another 2gb going to 1.2. I get the impression that there's some fairly major changes in this new beta. I can't wait until tomorrow night to actually find out what they are!
 
Any other way to get access to the Beta? Missed out in signing up for this. Very unsure if Ill buy this...

I'm no fan of P2P either, especially ones which don't let you set limits on the amount of bandwidth they use, but to be fair to them this sort of delivery system is probably the best for delivering content to over 16,000 people in terms of both efficiency and cost. I believe the 2.6gb file exceeds the patch size limits too.

It is flawed though in that it as soon as someone fully downloads the update their lost from the system and aren't able to continue putting back in by seeding.
 
A big problem with p2p download like this where you can't limit your upload, is that a lot of the time/connections MAX upload will kill your download speed meaning your sharing well but receiving badly :P
 
I was under the impression it was 5 - 8 and 12 - 3 but could be completely wrong

just seem to remember the times being in 3 hour blocks

Finally logged onto the Beta section of MAG website, it says:

Monday through Friday
10:00am - 1:00pm PDT, 5:00pm - 8:00pm PDT

1 hours time, I guess.
