Sign up for the MAG beta here!

Woohoo, just got an email, downloading it now. Thanks for posting this, I wouldn't be in otherwise :D

Also, for the times, the email says:

The beta will be open Monday to Friday until October 9, 2009, at the following times:

17:00 to 20:00 BST

00:00 to 03:00 BST

People complaining on the PS forums already :) usual "I applied before xxx who already has a code". This always happens, because for some reason, they are unable to send multiple e-mails at once :D How long can it take to send a few thousand e-mails?

I got my key earlier too and downloading it as i type. Not a very big download either at 298 Meg but i suspect there will be more downloading to do :D

Completely forgot I signed up for this! Just got my key. Awesomeness. Hopefully see you guys on it, but I guess that depends on the state of the current build lol.

I have not my good man :D

2.6gb :)

So finally some of you have started receiving your codes, which is good to see. Those of you who haven't yet but feel you should have, please be patient as the email may arrive later this evening. I will double-check to ensure they were sent out first come first served, but if for some reason they weren't then I'll let you know what's happening tomorrow.

I should also warn you all that if you choose to download your data today then be warned that the resume function is still not working. This may not matter so much for some as the servers are much quicker and more stable today than last week, but if you would rather not risk it then please wait for the small client patch that will be deployed around 1pm tomorrow. This will fix the resume functionality and may save you a lot of hair pulling if you have a less-than-reliable ISP.

For those lucky ones, enjoy the game tonight!

As usual, the people organising the Beta, are not even sure if codes were sent out first come first serve :) (Any PS3 beta I have been on has this same issue!!)

Edit: Before you start a game there is a queueing system!! Almost like they only have a few servers and you have to take turns?

Also, there is only 2 maps available. 1 is for 64 players and one for 128 players. How are they going to test 256 players (which is what this game is advertised as?).

I'm predicting this to be a massive fail.

I'm going into this beta completely open minded and know nothing about MAG in terms of the promises and advertised features. So I am prepared for anything pretty much. I am the sort that calls a fail very early on with games so let's just see.

Downloading the updates now. Hmm. Slowest. Download. Ever.

Not so much the gameplay, but the implementation. I have a feeling we're going to have awful P2P updating, laggy servers and probably very few 256 player games.

Surely the queueing is just match making? It groups all the players waiting into squads then starts a game.

256 games will be tested later, they tend to rotate through what is available (depending on what they need data on).
