Silverstone 2012

If you've never heard 24 F1 cars on track before, brace yourself.... :)

mind you, the cars are a lot quieter, back in 2007-2008 I was forced to use earplugs after two cars passed, now if i sit on the start straight and all 24 pass, there is no need for them.

weather forecast now looks better, only some rain on Saturday, but at Silverstone it really has it's own weather, only 1 week till will be setting up the tent :D can't wait!

Planning to get there on Thursday and set up the tent for the weekend :)

Not sure whether to leave after the race, or if the entertainment on the Sunday evening and traffic make it better to leave on the Monday morning. Any suggestions?

Depends who's on the stage after the race. A couple of years back they had JB and Hamilton and a bunch of other drivers on the stage doing interviews, which was great. The music that came on after was rubbish, but by that time traffic was fine to get out.

We normally go home Monday which can be quite busy as well, but on a Sunday it seems pretty clear to get out by about 5pm.

Thank you, good to know in advance.

If you'd all indulge a first timer some more, what's the quality & cost of food and drink like there? We're obviously trying to decide how much to take with us.

If anyone has any other tips for a novice it would be appreciated too ;)

Very expensive in the circuit for food and drinks, if you can take your own then do so :) quality is decent enough I guess but still not worth it unless you really need to have something :) lot's of selection tho, if your going to eat I would budget maybe £20 a day for 2.

When I went a couple of years ago, we were initially going to stay Sunday night and go Monday but it was easy to get out early evening, as said from 5-6pm ish onwards.

Club Silverstone last year 4 burgers, 3 cokes, 1 beer £38

Mark you going to Silverstone? Few of us heading up just for the Friday if you wanted to meet up (guessing no magic pass this time? ;)).

Yes mate, Friday quite possibly. Will have a chat with Kenny and see if i can sort something out, been a while since we were last in the garage!

any of you guys camping from weds?

Will be at Woodlands Campsite wednesday afternoon/evening. Can't wait :) Was great there last year!

Re: Circuit prices. I didn't find it that crazy, all the mob I went with last year agreed it was lower than we were expecting.
Imagine on track most days I'll take my own Drinks and maybe just grab a burger.

why did you leave it this late to buy them??

Just bought a house, needed every penny I could get to pay for everything, now the girlriend and her family have decided to buy my ticket because I couldn't afford it and for putting up with her lol :(
