Singapore Grand Prix 2010, Marina Bay Street Circuit - Race 15/19

I am just glad I didn't nod off before the Kubica charge, great fun to see.

I am so sad/angry that the tyres are so rock hard this year, things like the Kubica charge could happen more often if they need to change tyres 3 or 4 times a race.

As for Hamilton/Webber, I think Hamilton should have thought some more about who he was overtaking and should have left a bit more room as he could have known Webber isn't one to give up easily at all.

Well that was an eventful GP!

I think it's nice to get continual 'drama', this year has been very good indeed.

Some comments
- It's nice to see Kubica carving through the field, he deserves a good car to see him reach his potential.
- I thought Alonso deserved to win, the comments that his garage where saying he was driving the nuts of the car shows he was on his game on Sunday, I don't like the guy, but fair play and credit where it's due.
- Hamilton, I was a bit dismayed, I love the fact he knows how to attack, and can have a go, but he needs to go away and realise that most of this opponents at that end of the field are as uncompromising as he no doubt is and show more thought in his overtakes.
- Heikki's fireman impression, I was literally shouting at the TV for him to stop, and was initially totally bewildered when he came out the pitlane, into the track, only when he stopped did I realise that a car on fire, in a pitlane that has plenty of flammable liquids and people around is not the best place for a car devouring itself in flames, I liked how was right in there with the extinguisher, I'm not sure how many drivers wouldn't have just legged it.

Fireman heiki made me lol chilling out in the middle of the straight with his extinguisher in one hand just doing his thang.

Was a little bit crazy! Quite brave too. Suspect there would have been a safety car had it not been at the very end.

If the Ferrari engines hold up it's Alonso's season. If they don't, it's LH's, imho.

This is the way I see it going to.

if button is still in with a chance how can you rule out hamilton.

it seems things happen in twos this season, back to back wins for webber, hamilton and alonso now, hopefully this is hamiltons 2nd bump and that will be the end of his bad luck.

I'm interested on how Button is going to do for the remaining races. He's not a street circuit driver but did well to keep Lewis in view all weekend, he certainly seemed to go out of his comfort zone to do so too.

He's the outsider in this years title race I think. The others have it all to lose while he's putting in cosistent steady results and keeping himself in the scope. Apart from Alonso, the others seem to be making too many mistakes and the Red Bull and Ferraris have questionable results. This leaves Lewis open to take it all but his two DNFs could see him driving even more desperately in the coming races leaving Button to clean up what he loses.

I think it unlikely, but one thing we know is we could see some great races over the next few weeks. Hope it goes to the wire for all 5.

What a bloody race, shame about Hamilton but I think enough has been said on that subject in this thread :p

In other news Kubica did well, I can almost see him in that red car already :)

I honestly think this season is Vettels, as much as I hate him, this weekend I think was his making and he'll prove it again next GP I'd bet money on it. Finishing a GP I think it was 0.2sec off leader? pretty intense and best race of the season by a long shot.

Vettel is an extremely high quality driver. This is unquestionable. Most teams (except for Ferrari and McLaren), would hire Vettel in a heartbeat. Mercedes are dying to hire Vettel and RBR will fight tooth and nail to keep him. He is definitely a world champion of the future.

A major problem for him is that RBR have no idea how to manage their drivers and in particular Webber. RBR tried, earlier on in the season, to do what Ferrari did with Massa...unfortunately, RBR's attempt went wrong and resulted in a crash in Turkey. Webber should've been given the riot act and told in no uncertain terms that he is No.2 and must yield to Vettel when asked to do so, to maximise Vettel's points total and increase the team's chances of winning the constructor's and driver's titles.

I know that Vettel is not liked on these forums, but the guy is not far away from Hamilton/Alonso in terms of ability. What he needs is a team to be completely centered around him, with no competition from his team-mate and he should do well. Hopefully 2011 will be Webber's last season with RBR, after which (providing he stays with RBR), Vettel can lead the team properly and take on the likes of Hamilton and Alonso.

The only reason why Vettel isn't leading the title race right now is because of the 2 car breakages he suffered in the first 2 races of the season and the fact that Webber's car seems to be unbreakable. The only time it broke was when it was launched up in the air...other than that, Webber can collide with any car and still continue without a problem.

And for the record, I firmly believe that Vettel will finish ahead of Webber in 2010.
