everton denied any approach for moyes and since he is under contract the new utd manager is announced in 2 days surely it can't be him?

Not much Everton can do to stop him going though, contract is up in a few weeks he could walk now if he wanted. In fact maybe he is

In recent years I fear that Fergie hasn't been quite there tactically and in the transfer market at times but that has been compensated for by the winning mentality he has instilled in all the teams he has had over the years.

If we can maintain that and get a top class European experienced manager in I think we will be fine.

They seem to talk about the replacement requiring his current contract to be ended early. Moyes pretty much doesn't have a contract any more. It would be a 50 quid buyout.

I have a vision of cantona coming into old Trafford carried by a flock of seagulls with the clouds parting behind him and a beam of light shining and he says dont worry my children I have arrived

Moyes - really?

Uninspiring in the transfer market, apart from Lescott has he bought anyone and sold them on for big money?

literally stopped reading at this point, i mean how stupid can you possibly be mate.

cahill (£2m), jagielka(£4m), lescott (£4m), arteta(£2.5m), coleman (£60k), mirallas (£6m), baines (£6m)

and you call him uninspired in the transfer market ??????

Jagielka is now worth well over £10m, Arteta went for about £10m, Lescott for £22m (LOL), Baines is worth about £15-20m and Mirallas if he continues his form will be worth about the same in a season or two. Coleman at £60,000 is one of the most inspired signing in recent years.

seek help mate or maybe just go and take up knitting or something

Out of them who has developed into a world class talent?

Even Fellaini for £15m, he'd go for more than that currently.

Baines is the best left back in the league. Arteta is excellent, as is Jagielka.

They're not world class, no, but any player Everton have who might turn out world class gets sold - look at Rooney. If he goes to Utd, Moyes will be at a club where he doesn't need to do that.

Anyway, who was the last world class player Mourinho developed? He's owned a lot, but hasn't brought any through the ranks - possibly Varane, but it's still very early in his career.

Baines is world class, then again you probably have a different definition of "world class". no one actually agrees on what that term means.

Anyway does every player in the world have to turn into world class talent for them to be good signings

Every single player i've mentioned has been a top signing, even more so considering the money (or lack of) he has had to work with.

Moyes's signings define the term "inspired" because he spent hardly anything on them and has had fantastic performances from them, all of them could be sold on at a hefty profit at any moment.

You have literally no point whatsoever.

The big question is, does Mourinho now want to settle down and creat a legacy? I get the idea he has always admired Sir Alex ( and they always have champagne/drinks together when they play each other don't they?) .

I would rather it was Mourinho than Moyes to be honest.

The point is that Klopp has a track record of developing world class talent from not much more than Moyes has had.

I think the problem with Mourinho is that he would come in for three season, and very possibly win three titles. He'd go elsewhere, and we would be having the exact same discussion about who should manage Utd in the wake of Fergie and Mourinho. You'd run the risk of becoming Chelsea.

Moyes would come in, continue where Fergie left off, and potentially create a similar dynasty. Is he as talented a manager as Fergie? Probably not, but he's the closest approximation.

Who? Gotze, Lewandowski, and Reus are their best players. Reus started in their academy, left, and was bought back for €17m. Gotze is excellent, but I wouldn't call him world class yet, and he's being sold young just as Rooney was. Lewandowski is a good centre forward, but is he any more "world class" than Baines - he was only bought three years ago, at any rate. Gundogan is good, but so is Fellaini.

Don't get me wrong, Dortmund have a brilliant team and I love watching them, but you're doing Moyes a disservice by saying that Klopp has been significantly better in the transfer market or in developing the talent available than him.

no your point was that he was uninspired in the transfer market, its the complete opposite... he is inspired in the transfer market.

klopp has nothing to do with your initial point.

Mourinho has always seemed to admire Ferguson and Man Utd, as you say, but I have always questioned whether that is attributable to genuine admiration or the fact he wants to succeed Ferguson as he perceives that as the ultimate accolade and another impressive line to add to his CV.
