Not really, what Man United seem to want is someone to turn up and carry on the good work, not turn up, win a couple of things, annoy EVERYONE, then leg it to another club "where they felt loved".

Moyes has in 10 years stuck it out at Everton and taken them further than probably expected given the resources...

I think there are other people available than just Mourinho......

I'm surprised I haven't seen many of the "This is our year" comments emerge from Liverpool fans.

To do what? Finish above Everton because they're losing the Moyesiah? It'll be a long time before we have anything like a this is our year coming.

ManU haven't held us back or Ferguson, Liverpool FC have.

Thing is if you take on a major manager with zero profile its difficult for them to go out and buy the best players.

For example would ronaldo come back to utd and play for fergie? Yes..

Would he be as tempted if David Moyes and crew rocked up to discuss the transfer? Firstly he has no relationship with ANY of the top players. Secondly it sends a signal to these players that we are trimnibg costs and going for a cheapo unknown manager raises concerns as Rooney rightly did a couple of years ago as to the ambition of the team itself if they are willing to recruit Moyes to begin with.

Horrible.

If David Moyes isn't announced as the new #MUFC tomorrow I shall eat my own face #NailedOn :)

Everton are apparently preparing an announcement / statement.

Don't think Utd would have to spend £20m on getting Mourinho out of his contract. Think that both parties there have had enough of each other so Real will let him walk for nothing, rather than sack him and end up paying him compensation.

But, it won't be Mourinho anyway....

I really doubt utd would want to spent £20 million on mourinho to get him out his contract

As far as I understand it, any club that wants Mourinho can have him. There has been talk for ages about the fact that Madrid don't want to keep him and he doesn't want to be there so both sides would be happy to get rid of the other without financial compensation.

I just can't see how Moyes is the best man for the job.

I'm still convinced that it's going to be Darren Ferguson.

Haha! I think I would subscribe to The Running Man's school of thought if that was the case.

I know that you can't take anything said as truth but why would Gill come out and say that we will get a manager with loads of experience in domestic and european football and that there are very few managers that fit the bill. I could list 20 managers with more/better european and domestic experience than Moyes.

In the PL alone there is...

Mancini
Wenger
Benitez
Redknapp
AVB
