He's not that bad, blimey. I hope our fans back him unlike certain others.

He could do really well, he needs a chance.

Indeed, if you don't including the lack of European experience his core mentalities are pretty much the same as SAF... and don't forget SAF is still going to be at the club in some capacity.

My god you're bitter. If he's so awful you should be happy.

Not bitter in the slightest. He's done very well for Everton but there's a massive difference between managing Everton and managing Utd.

Utd are in a position where they should be able to take their pick of the very best possible managers in the world, yet they look like they're going to go for a guy who's greatest achievement is finishing 4th once.

Not only has he not proven himself at the highest level, he has little to no experience in Europe and has built an Everton side playing a style of football that's not likely to be effective at a top side and not the greatest to watch either.

He could do really well, he needs a chance. If it all goes to **** then surely you should be happy...

I've not said he's that bad. He could do well but it's more of a gamble than had you gone after Guardiola, Klopp etc. Utd are one of the biggest sides in the world and have had one of the best managers in the world (and of all time) and they're replacing him with David Moyes. I'm pretty sure I'm no the only one thinking that Utd could have done a lot better.

And I am happy. Moyes has done well for Everton and will be hard to replace and I can't see Moyes being able to effectively replace Taggart - certainly not to be as successful anyway.

First Thatcher dies, then Ferguson retires. Somewhere there is a Scouser with a lamp and one wish left

His retirement present, a carriage clock with 5 extra minutes. :p

Seriously though, although he wound me up, you can't take away from his achievements, he has been the best manager bar none of his generation.
I have no idea if he is appointed whether Moyes will be any good there, but that doesn't stop him being a very good manager as to keep Everton in the premiership with all the financial troubles they have is no mean achievement.

Announcement will be made on Friday at the latest that Moyes will be United's new manager, according to a two people who usually get Everton stuff right.

Personally I feel Moyes kind of lacks big club experience. He's done a phenomenal job at Everton though. He may do fantastic at Man Utd too, however I can't shake the feeling that it's a huge risk compared to if they just went out and got Mourinho.

I feel Mourinho want's to settle down for a long stint now at an English club, he has never hidden his love for managing in England and always talks about his desire to come back, so I thought everything would line up.

Going to be very interesting to see how it all unfolds, however if I were a United fan I would be feeling pretty uneasy at the risks involved with going for Moyes.

Good job you're lot didn't think the same when you promoted from within, managers who had never won much like King Kenny :p

I don't see it as massive a leap as people are thinking. People thought he would be out of his depth going from Preston to Everton. Surely you have to give managers from lower divsions and places int he league a chance because we are running out of top names to keep calling crap anyway.

In recent years we have walked a fine line between staying competitive and sliding down the mountain to mediocrity. Signing Moyes would complete that transformation. It's a truly repulsive thought and an act which could single handily spoil everything he worked so hard to achieve.

The "Lamp Joke".....as it will affectionately be known in the future, obvioulsy did not originate from here as first thought

First Jeff Hanneman dies, then Ferguson retires. Somewhere there is a Mexican with a tent and one testicle left

AMIRITE?!

No he has a love of self promotion. After a while at Manu he would talk about desire for Italy, Spain, Portugal or anywhere else when he wasn't getting his way.

Charlton didn't talk to well about wanting to work with him either...
