I just can't get excited for Moyes at the moment. A part of me thinks it could be a very good move and he'll be very successful

But the bigger part of me worries that he just isn't up to the task. I worry for his effect on the players, players who have seen Ferguson like a father figure etc. And what about our potential in the transfer market now? Are players going to be as attracted to Utd as they would with Fergie? Not knowing how Moyes will cope or how Utd will fare under Moyes.

I just think we could be struggling next season, and by struggling I mean maybe fighting for 2nd/3rd, which let's face it, is struggling when compared to a typical season. That could then change once everything has settled down, but I don't know....just don't feel at all comfortable about it

Despite the possible short term appointment of someone like Mourinho, I think it would have been far better to get that short term success and show the players/fans/transfer targets that maybe it isn't all Ferguson and life can go on after him, but with Moyes, I think a few bad games in and panic will set in by the majority

I'm not sure there was a 'right' appointment but Moyes is a brave desision. It's going to be exceptionally tough.

Just dont expect miracles in 1st season at United. You fans need to back him and support him. dont become like chelsea/city fans who ask for there managers head every time they lose a game.

back your manager!

We'll back him (the majority), I'm sure.

I certainly am.

I'd rather Moyes than Mourinho, but the reasons worry me. It seems familiarity (the league) and potential longevity are trumping experience and quality. There are better managers doing more with less who might be tempted if we asked, but would they be as comfortable as Moyes, probably not. I'm just not sure that that's enough to succeed Fergie.

What worries me the most is if (completely hypothetical.. It's just a recent example), would Falcao (and the like) be more excited to play under Moyes, or Mourinho, or Klopp, or x, y, z? Would RVP have signed for us if we had Moyes last summer? I just can't see that.

Either way, Moyes deserves a chance and the respect of the fans. Two trophy less (but challenging) seasons is nothing if it gives him the chance to make his mark and to gain the experience at this level.

It would be very, very wise to keep Giggs around for a further season, just to try not to change too much of the club all at once.

In a coaching role yes. Playing, no. Having a guy that plays well for his age is the worst reason ever to play someone and over the last few seasons he has ruined more games than he has inspired.

Its getting quite frustrating watching him play poorly for 80% of the time only to have the tabloids gush when he changes a single game in 10.

United are going to sign Moutinho in the summer!! :(

Looks like the announcement will come tomorrow afternoon in time for the opening of the NYSE.

Given how much Moyes relies on old heads within a club (like Phil Neville), I would be amazed if he doesn't lean on the experience of Giggs fairly heavily.

With regards to attracting top players, whilst the fergie factor was a big pull, playing for Man Utd is always the first thing any player that has joined has said.

I dont think it will affect our transfers much.

Hope this is the case. I suppose it depends on the individual player, each swayed by different factors I suppose. It'll be interesting to see who Moyes does go for, could make his mark immediately with a big signing. Just hope he doesn't raid Everton! Would only want Baines and not for the price they'd want for his age.

Wouldn't say no to fellani but I'm not sure how useful he would be in the CL.

Most European teams are good at dealing with ground passes, so having a 6'4" bully like Fellaini certainy wouldn't hurt. Keep your hands off him though :p

The boys made of elbows, there would be so many players going down like they had been shot it would give any watching war vets flashbacks.
