It's official! Moyes has signed a 6 year contract to be the new Manchester United manager.

Quelle surprise!

The only worry I have is that he will defer too much to Fergies advice. I really hope that Ferguson doesn't get too involved in the actual team going forwards.

Incredible length of time to be honest. Just shows how much faith SAF has in him.

Announcing his successor, Sir Alex Ferguson said:

"When we discussed the candidates that we felt had the right attributes we unanimously agreed on David Moyes. David is a man of great integrity with a strong work ethic. I've admired his work for a long time and approached him as far back as 1998 to discuss the position of Assistant Manager here. He was a young man then at the start of his career and has since gone on to do a magnificent job at Everton. There is no question he has all the qualities we expect of a manager at this Club.”

So thats that then, Moyes the new manager of Utd...wasnt a huge secret really as rumours were flying around the past few yrs that Moyes would probably take over from SAF once he called it a day. 6 yrs is a long time for someone who hasnt really proven himself in the top 4 of the league.

Anyhow good luck to Moyes, i hope he doesnt get too much flack from Utd fans. Well with the exception of running man, who honestly should be a Chelsea fan as he would fit right in there with them lot:p.

Reading the quotes from Fergie and Bobby C has convinced me to be a believer. Roll on August and the new season :)

I would have been happier with Klopp but I will completely support Moyes now that he's been confirmed as our manager. Everyone involved with United seem convinced that he's the best choice and that's good enough for me :)

I think Moyes at any other club would struggle walking in to such a big job (yes united probably the biggest to fill due to someone being there 26 years) but Chelsea etc he'd probably do rubbish, but United are run so damn well I can't see there being an issue :(, especially with Fergie holding his hand, will be interesting if he can develop him into a bully.
