Sir Alex Ferguson Retires

If one person deserved a big job in the premier league it was David Moyes. I'm thrilled for him that he got it, I wont hate United so much any more that Fergie is gone. Great manager but he always got on my nerve with his poor behaviour. Was kind of sick of seeing all the big clubs going for big name foreign manager when David Moyes was always doing a good job and never got a chance.

I am happy with moyes and look foward to next season, I just hope they can sort the Rooney situation out soon, I do think he will go and I am convinced lewendowski will be at united next season

Well I've said my piece now.

Clearly this appointment is better news for Moyes than it is for man utd. To him its a dream job. To utd fans he is not what we wanted or would have chosen.

He has zero relevant title winning experience. Except with Preston in division 2.

He has no experience of big European matches and as far as I can see will put us back to stage 1 as we were years ago epically failing in Europe due to inexperience.

Our team is on major need of a rebuild with stalwarts like giggs and scholes surely to retire and fergie favourite fletcher to never play again.

I just..

They know getting in Maureen will guarantee some trophies but he is a short term solution. He has a track record of a hired gun, come in, do things and leave. The united board clearly want to replicate what Fergie has done and they are taking a chance on someone who can offer stablity rather than trophies.

You mean it's not what you wanted? I haven't seen too many United fans on here complaining about the appointment. Who would you have had instead? Mourinho might have won us more trophies in the short-term but he'd just have ****** off within three years like he does with every club. Klopp would have been a good choice in my opinion, but clearly Fergie, Charlton and the board felt Moyes was the best man for the job and I respect their decision.

Harry Redknapp is on it already just on SSN... 'Everton are one of the biggest clubs in English football, they've always been a big english club'

He'll be hanging out of his car window on the way into Finch Farm later on this evening!!

How much did Guardiola have when he took over Barca, yet you would have wet yourself in fury had he been named as your manager in 2008. I'm sure you are now going to point to his playing career like that has much relevance.

He just might have more of a clue in Europe than Fergie.

Hopefully just to get a few parking tickets and confused looks of how's he's doing an Odemwenge...

I was thinking that when he was talking! :D

Yeah, experience isn't the be all end all of management. To win a title you have to win your matches, if you do that, you'll win. Same in Europe, weigh up the opposition and play to beat them. He'll catch on quickly I'm sure. :p

Fergie has massively underestimated the 'midfield battle' in Europe many many times, for example.

Pep had err..well let's just say he won the league, champions league and copa del ray in his first season. You know like a treble..

As a player he had also won everything possible in domestic football and in Europe except the eufa cup. And the world cup but he did get a golden medal. Had worked at barca b for a year and knew the team and club inside out having spent 11years there as a player/ manager before getting the top job.

Are you thinking Moyes can bring about a revolutionary type of football to dominate Europe for the next half decade?

Or just throwing out random comparisons?

He'd not have been in my top 5 to take over, his credentials are very weak, especially compared to what's out there and even Fergie's stats when he took over.

Saying that he shouldn't be thrown under the bus before we've even kicked a ball. I wouldn't say he deserves his chance at a club this big, but he should get the support he needs and let's see if he can raise his game.

It's exciting nonetheless to see what's ahead for United (as long as it isn't Fellaini).

Give him a chance. Could end up being really good for you guys! He has done a great job at Everton all things considered, so this is his chance, and I am sure he will seize it with both hands.

I don't care what he won in his first season, his managerial experience prior to taking the job was nothing. YOU said Moyes will send them backwards as he has no European mangerial experience, well neither did Pep. He did ok.

I don't know what Moyes can bring, I haven't written him off like you before he's even had a chance. But hey regardless you will whinge and moan whatever happens.
