Sky Fibre Optic

A proper constant download test is a better indicator. Try www.thinkbroadband.com/download and click on the 100 Meg option. I get about 4.4MB maxed out on a 5GHz wireless bridge on torrents which is about right for 39998.

Was getting about 900kbps few days, just tried few times downloading the 100MB file and getting 3.78MB. very impressed even when over wireless. thx

Finally got my FTTC booked in, so I'm looking forwards to finally getting off this 6mbps adsl line. Managed to get 25% off my tv while I was there, so the cost is pretty much the same as for my adsl was.

In terms of routers, I'm a bit gutted that they only have 100Mb ethernet ports, since I have two pcs and a tv hooked up to a switch upstairs and they will all be doing things like streaming, downloading steam games etc. Still, can't be worse than it is now!

Finally got activated yesterday, though with work i didn't get home to sort it out until 11pm!!

Better than the 5.5/0.8 I was getting before. Might have been expecting the ping to be a bit lower but as i don't game I'm no bothered.

The wireless signal on the skybox is a bit low compared to my DGN2000, might need to get another router or a booster.

my exchange has finally changed to Accepting Orders but nothing yet showing on sky/BT website allowing me to order.

Is it worth calling Sky and seeing if they have any information about when I can order Fibre or just wait and keep trying the "line checker"

Been running the thinkBB quality monitor on it and I'm getting spikes in the latency (what appears to be) every 2 1/2 hrs. Not that this is affect me atm I'm curious as to what is causing it?

Probably because your local BT cabinet has not been FTTC enabled.

Use the address checker on BT's website here.

Phoned up Sky yesterday as I got an e-mail saying that Fibre was ready for my area but when doing a check it wasnt.

Got told it was available, but they've sold out and will have to wait for them to install a new card into the cabinet :( So guessing that wont be done anytime soon!

Are there any offers on Sky Fibre Pro yet does anyone know? Really fancy the 20mbit upload for streaming HD whilst away from home etc but dont fancy the additional £20 a month cost for a 50% increase in speed.

There's not really anything on Fibre Pro at the moment. Do you have Sky BB now? Brand new customers can get free activation and 6 months half price on the 40/10 package.

I just called Sky to cancel my ADSL that migrated from o2 this month.

The retentions person did me £10 per month on 40/10 for 12 months + a £20 credit as plusnet was going to be slightly cheaper to move to (21p per month). Also no activation and no postage for router.

Top service from retentions, just hoping the service lives up to it!

Already on 40/10 fibre and benefiting from the offer you mention above. It's just a shame that there is no offer available on the top tier package. Is there likely to be anything moving forward do you know?
