Sky Fibre Optic

I've got my line moving over to Sky on Thursday but no details about the fibre install. As I'm on ADSL am I right in thinking that I'll need an Openreach visit? If so when will that all be confirmed? I just need to know when someone may be visiting the house.

Superb, that clears it up and makes a life a hell of a lot easier!

So basically wait for my broadband to die then switch to the new router?

What's the default DHCP ranges issued and the default gateway? My current router pumps out on 192.168.1.xxx with the gateway being 192.168.1.254
I've got a few devices with fixed IP's so it will make my life easier if that's what the Sky box does too!

Anyone had any luck with rententions offers? I have tried twice today and been told they don't have any offers for fibre despite reading in many places about the 12 months half price offer.

Part of the problem is that, at the moment anyway that Fibre isn't what we call a BAU product, it's still classed as 'niche'. That will change in the next few months so Fibre can be dealt with by the normal support lines rather than dedicated teams. Then you may start to see offers.

How long did it take others to get a working fibre connection on the activation day?

My BT phone line cut over to sky around 1pm today and my adsl went off.
I've plugged the sky hub in and can see that it is syncing ok but no ip is being issued.

Is it likely to happen today or is it a write off for tonight?

Had an outage 3 6 days ago for a day and now its been down since Wednesday night, you don't realise how much you rely on the net at home

If this carries on I'll be moving to Plus Net

You sure you got everything plugged in correct ?

I'd turn the router off for a while then restart it, make sure everything is plugged in properly then see what happens if nothing then call !
