Finally showing that my cabinet is going to get upgraded in June after the local council stepped in and threw some grant money at OpenReach to sort out all the notspots for local businesses. Gonna be a long wait...

I'll be ordering Fibre Pro once my ADSL gets connected later on today. Been a long wait.

Have to say i'm very happy with what I get here. It runs at around 70/20, but it can do so constantly and the hub has only lost connection once/twice? in the past few months. Hell of an upgrade from the old ASDL ****.

You also get a static IP now.

Brand new features just for you

Static IP address
New: With either Sky Broadband Pro product, you can request a static IP address. This can be really useful if you are hosting your own server for gaming or even your own personal website. Already have a static IP address with O2 or BE? No problem - we will automatically set up a new one for you.

Line profile customisation
Coming Soon: Change your line profile for speed or reliability with either Sky Broadband Pro product. Sky Broadband Unlimited Pro even has a gaming mode, so you can enhance your gaming experience too.

Static IP address and line profile customisation features can be managed in My Sky.

Extra support should you need it
Expert Technical Support: Our Sky Broadband Pro products come with a specialist technical support team. They're available on our dedicated phone number 03448 245 100 or online with Live Chat.

Nope, got a deal on the standard fibre but the guy said he didnt even see the point in the pro....

MORE POWER was my response! Still no discount though!!

Managed to get it with £10 off for 12months and no activation. Happy with that as it saves messing around changing provider.

Will look into the static IP though, that might be handy.

It has been about two years since I first looked into Sky for fibre. Do they offer an "up to 80mb" service yet?
When fibre was first installed at our exchange only BT could offer me an upto 80mb connection (I get 76/16), but as renewal this year and as a Sky TV customer it might be worth asking them for a deal.

They do, it's called Fibre Pro but you have to order it over the phone.

Asus RT-N66U is belting router, but if you have any Wireless AC devices and want things a bit more snappy, then you could look at a slightly better model such as

Second this, my RT-N66U is rock solid, great signal, and has lots of tweaks/option to tinker with :D

Surely Sky will have to drop the 80/20 package price soon as the market moves on

Billion 7800n Sky Fibre

Hi, just been giving a 7800n to use on Sky Fibre tried setting it up but need help please-
1-Wired up correctlly>Master socket RJ11 to DSLPort>Modem>RJ45 Ewan to Ewan Port>Router.
2-In router bios[FM:ukbillion7800nv6_1.06h.dt2.afw latest] Main interface port>EWAN.
In Wan interface if l select Protocols there is no MAC Encapsulated Routing (RFC 1483 MER) either selecting Ewan or Adsl using latest firmware[FM:ukbillion7800nv6_1.06h.dt2.afw]

I know my Sky Password is correct as it worked with other 3rd party routers when l was on Sky Adsl.

Thanks.

You need to use the username/password combo from extracted from the Sky hub, it's not the same user/password as your ADSL as far as I know ... The username / pass combo is in the format of

macaddress@skydsl|NLNNNNLN

Follow the guide here http://www.skyuser.co.uk/forum/extr...-how-get-username-password-sky-hub-sr101.html

don't count on it - mine was in the 2nd wave of upgrades in March 2013. Still nothing done yet!:p

My Password works fine from when l got it from my ADSL days.:)

Its working now, what a difference old Sky Black Hub 39998 Dload/6492UPload > 7800n 39970 Dload/6742UPload.:D

Hopefully the l might get a bit more UPload speed just goes to show how crap the Sky Black Hub is.

UPdate 2- Downloading-
Just downloaded Ghost 29GB from steam at a constant 4.4/4.5 steam just under 2hrs.

Were as the Black Hub would be dancing between 2.o/4.0 with the odd stop normaly l would Dload through the night.

Sky brag how good the latest Black Hub is utter tosh.

I have an up to 40mbit service not with Sky and downloaded Counterstrike:Source over Steam earlier this morning at a constant rate of 4.3MB/s

I find at peak times after 5PM for example or at the weekends my downloads slow down, in fact I just downloaded Half Life 2 on Steam at a rate of 3.0MB/s with a peak of 4.1MB/s

I have the Sky Hub, it's crap because it's got limited features IMO.

This. It is rock solid at keeping my connection up and at a good speed, but my Time Capsule does the wireless stuff. Everything has its assigned IP address; Xbone works well through it and no other problems. :)
