Sky Fibre Optic

Nope :( All 4 people told me they couldn't do it, including Indian lady. They all said the same thing, existing Sky BB customers can get it waived, people coming in externally can't.

its an apple router with a built in 2tb hard drive for apple time machine backup utility, its really good, plus its 5ghz simultaneous network :)

If Apple have built a time machine, I would assume that it is damn good. :p
Apple, certainly are imaginative with the product naming. :D

I've changed the channel from 'auto' in settings, to see if that helps the wifi signal around the house. Will report back tonight. :)

If using a windows system like vista or 7 try this in command prompt.

Code:
netsh wlan show all

At the bottom of the page it will show network details for all visable networks like channel numbers and so on, look at the other network channel's and it will help you pick what channel to use.

I registered ages ago as interested in FTTC through Sky and was giddy when I saw an e-mail from Sky with the subject "Sky Fibre Optic Boradband" in my inbox a couple of days ago! :)

.......and it was an e-mail to say I can't currently get it!?!?!?!?!?!:mad::confused::mad:

AAARRRGGGGGHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Nice one, will try a channel that no one else is using.

Just ordered fibre + tv, Whats the speeds like and more importantly the pings during 4-11pm? (im coming from vm fibre)

Is the wireless really that bad? If so do they have a 'modem mode' similer to the superhub?

Woot, had a trouble free installation here in Manc, very friendly guy came around checked all the sockets and chopped off the ones I don't use then installed the open reach modem and even did the test on the sky one for me, which they don't have to do. The speed is insane compared to my old one :)

Welcome aboard :D

Had my BTO install today. Engineer phoned 10 mins before turning up to let me know he was on his way. Took about 45 minutes total for cab work and new master socket. Can't say anything about wireless performance of Sky's router as my wireless is by virtue of an Apple Airport Extreme. Speed test below:

Follow up on my previous message p10 of this thread, this is an ongoinmg rant and I need to vent somewhere and let users be aware of potential problems - as previously mentioned the BT engineer did not show for the fibre install due to a 'missing part', so given another appointment 3 weeks ago for 21/5/12 - today. At the time I could not make that appointment so I let them know this the same day I was given that appointment and requested the engineer come this Friday 25/5/12. I got an e-mail confirming the appointment was booked 21/5/12 following my call, obviously the call and new appointment was not logged into their system so I called again the same day to confirm it was not 21/5/12 but 25/5/12 -which they confirmed over the phone.

This all happened 3 weeks ago. Today whilst at work the BT engineer calls me from outside my house asking me to let him in. Sky had not changed the appointment as I had requested. I called again, now frustrated at their repeated ineptitude - lo and behold they had logged that I had requested a change of appointment but it had not gone through due to a system error at the time - they did not think to let me know or try to rectify it. Now I am left waiting for another appointment with a BT engineer in a few weeks. Thus far it has been 6 weeks since I ordered the fibre package, and who knows when it will be installed.

I remain skeptical that they will install it in a few weeks and am very annoyed and frustrated with their poor customer communication and service. My friend ordered fibre direct from BT and had an engineer install it within one week or order. I dislike companies treating customers as small fry when they get so big, it feels like you're just another insignificant number that is irrelevant in the big picture.

Rant over.
