Sky Fibre Optic

Just went with Sky in a new house, Sky Fibre Unlimited, 40mbps. Is there anything I need to know about? I stream a lot of TV and films through Kodi. I'm currently using all hardware supplied by Sky

Just having a Google and it appears Sky have relaxed the rules.

Look in the comments at the bottom, specifically:

This was getting on my nerves as I'm sufferring weird problems with the SR102 lately. Every 100 hours which never happened before and not long after midnight, it is locking up the connection. No internet but all lights are white and everything is connected and ticking away. Before this started happening it was pretty solid. 1500 hours or so uptime.

How does everyone rate the new Q router? Debating on whether to try it once I have it installed or stick with my current setup ...

It's decent for an ISP router, especially with the powerline setting enabled on the Q boxes and the router itself.

Obviously the features are basic though!

Power line? So I could have e another power line in another room.and the internet signal would get passed round..

Not true. Most adapters are built to set standards 'HomePlug AV', 'HomePlug AV2', etc. to allow them to interoperate.

I'm sure there are real world examples where they don't interoperate, but they should. They even all come with the same default encryption keys (which can be a problem in itself).

Very happy with it.

The powerline is supposed to work only with other Sky Q equipment to extend the WiFi. I'm just running it as a standalone AC router.

Anyone know if I can use the TP Link Archer C9 with Sky Fibre please?

Looking for the best router under £100

This is the one you want l believe>TP-Link Archer AC 1900 Wireless Dual Band Gigabit VDSL2 Modem Router (Archer VR900).

As it supports in ATM/PPP Protocols>MER\IPoE (RFC 1483Routed) which your router needs to connect to sky.

Shop round.

Price of my broadband going up to £48.99 a month
For once Sky refuse to budge on price, no offers to reduce line rental from £18.99 and no offers to reduce broadband from £30.

Guess they really want people off the Pro package :(
