Sky Fibre Optic

That'll go faster eventually, when the DLM drops to 3db. I think all cabinets now try to train down to 3 (from your 6.2). Perhaps see as much as +10mbit once it adjusts :)
Hi Jez
So just got back from a weeks holiday and looks like my router is still showing 6.1 65/20 does that sound right after more than 10 days of line training? Was hoping for faster speeds :D

Line stats are:
Connection Speed 64966 kbps 20000 kbps
Line Attenuation 17.2 dB 22.1 dB
Noise Margin 6.1 dB 6.6 dB

Your noise margin still has loads to give, does anyone know if certain ISPs request different targets from openreach?

My line is with TalkTalk and it trains down to 3db, if yours did the same then you'd see a fairly significant uplift, i am surprised that it hasnt which makes me wonder if openreach allow individual targets per provider?

I'm assuming Sky tech would have a clue if I called and spoke about this sort of thing or have the ability to do anything about it.....

After two weeks without broadband my connection was activated on Friday. Speeds while wired seem good but wifi is slower when 2.4G and 5G networks are synced. I've read that if I disable this it breaks the SkyQ mesh with the TV box, but I have that plugged in via ethernet. What am I losing by running separate wifi networks?

Not a lot. Apple devices seem to have issues with multiple sky Q hotspots and will refuse to jump between them and prefer to remain connected to the first spot they pick up. 8ts under investigation.

Are your hub and Q box close to each other? If so I'd recommend disabled the hot-spot option on the Q box. Home, highlight settings, 0,0,1 select.

About 15 feet away. I've got a MacBook Pro and two iPhones connected no problem, the issue is my media centre/gaming PC which is at the opposite end of the house and roughly 25 feet from the hub (behind a wall) and about 15 feet away from the SkyQ box. With the channels synced I get 6-8mbps on the PC, but when it's forced onto 5G I get 34mbps. The signal shows as weaker on Windows' wifi icon, but it's much faster.

I'm probably asking a bit much of the hub to be fair. Might be time to invest in Google Home for wifi.

Can anyone advise me. I've been having issues with Sky Fibre Max since being upgraded to it from Fibre Unlimited about two weeks ago. For two or three days after the upgrade I was getting speedtest results of 65-70Mbps, which I was happy with and understood that this might improve further as the connection settled in and the DLM adjusted. However, shortly after this the internet dropped out one evening and ever since I've been getting speedtest results of 35Mbps and download speeds of 3.5-4MB/s. What's weird is that the router statistics page is still showing good results:

Connection Speed 76608 kbps 20000 kbps
Line Attenuation 11.0 dB 8.6 dB
Noise Margin 6.3 dB 6.6 dB

I've been on the phone to Sky three or four times and I'm getting fed up with the way they constantly seem to fob me off with rubbish advice. They've suggested it could be a bandwidth issue because there are about nine or ten devices connected via ethernet or over wifi, but I've always had that many devices connected and never experienced issues on Fibre Unlimited. Besides, I disabled the wireless access point on both bands and removed all other ethernet devices and got the same speedtest and download results connected via ethernet directly to the router. They've also had me do a hard reset of the router. Sky are sending me a new router so hopefully that fixes it, but if not what are my options? And can anyone suggest any other causes?

So original stats when first installed
Connection Speed 39050 kbps 5973 kbps
Line Attenuation 24.1 dB 0.0 dB
Noise Margin 6.1 dB 6.6 dB

and a few months later

Connection Speed 37977 kbps 5797 kbps
Line Attenuation 24.2 dB 0.0 dB
Noise Margin 6.3 dB 6.6 dB

recently lots of reboots due to Skys broken fibre backbone to ns/dns
now have,

Connection Speed 33929 kbps 5960 kbps
Line Attenuation 24.4 dB 0.0 dB
Noise Margin 5.7 dB 6.6 dB

how do I get the speed back as its stuck at this speed for two weeks, no sign of DLM boosting it back up

How long ago were the original stats? Speeds can drop over time as the cab gets filled up. Reboots obviously don't help, but it can take a few months to see any real difference take place from experience.
