Sky Fibre Optic

Nice result :) I'd be more than happy with that!

I have a feeling it will drop a bit over the coming weeks though - but yes its quite an upgrade from the 40/10 package.

It would be interesting to see how many of the people with a max attainable of > 80Mbit are getting close to 80Mbit on the Pro package. I would expect most of these people would be maxing their 80Mbit connections too.

are people enjoying sky fibre?

i've just cancelled my crap virgin xxl 50mb and will be switching to sky hopefully.

VM offered to knock my bill down to £28 and up my speed to 100mb but man i've had enough of there bull crap. God the customer service agent needed a good slap, stupid bag saying o your going to a slower provider and it will be slower because it's on a phone line.

So hopefully sky will be better.

Virgin's traffic management and newsgroup throttling is a joke.

Traffic management is pretty much non-existent with Sky, so enjoy :)

I got a 4ms ping a few days ago on speedtest. Shame I don't game online anymore. I'd have killed for a ping like that when I did (back in the 56k days!).

Hehehe.

When I was on 56k, there were times when I had a ping of around 300ms.
I saw other players with pings of 1000ms+.
How times have changed.

Same here - used to load up quake 2 on my diamond 56k modem - lowest ping i ever managed was about 200ms!! Maybe i should load up steam and get playing again :)

They told me the same thing. In fact I was told I wouldn't get fibre optic from Sky until next year.

Needless to say I've had since May and it's been solid as a rock, I started off with 35MB down and 1.7MB up. That's now been stablized to 30MB down and 5MB up, which I'm happy with.

I've not lost service in that time and each and every speedtest have produced the same results.

lovely pings there mate.

One question for people regarding VM and there 30 day period, is it true that because I had to pay 2mths up front when i joined them, that when I leave they should owe me money.

Or am I getting this wrong? my contract with these muppets ended on the 17/9/2012 and I phoned them on the 19th to give 30 days notice. So The service ends on the 19th october.

Had sky fibre installed yesterday but i'm not getting the 10mb upload :(

Download speed has gone down a bit since yesterday aswell :(

Yeah, i'm gonna give it the 10 days before i consider contacting sky about it, was just hoping i'd get the extra upload straight away like some have.

Just ordered Sky FTTC, 3 weeks till install. Expecting max performance. Can't wait as currently using Sky's ADSL Max which is shocking. As i understand it BT come and route a new cable and install a new master socket? Is this correct? Can i ask for them to put it in a convenient place rather than in the kitchen where it is now?
