Sky Fibre Optic

Right.
I've had a delivery note for a fibre router, the sticker on the box says fibre something or other but inside it is blatantly the same ADSL router with an RJ11 port.

Time to give them a ring (again) then...

Might be that one of the ethernet ports doubles as EWAN. Pretty sure Sky uses the default Huawei HG 612 for the modem. So it might not actually be wrong!

In my case, Sky sent me the router and the installer brought the modem.

The Sky Router is a Sagecom F@ST2504n. It's silver on top and black at the bottom. I don't think the model number appears anywhere on the router. If it puts your mind at rest, it does look like an ADSL model and has an RJ11 port ('ADSL' is written underneath that socket).

You can connect it to your PC before your installation and access it via 192.168.0.1. Username is 'admin' and the password is 'sky'. You'll be able to see the model number on the router's homepage.

The silver\black router is old stock. the latest router is beige in colour and is on general issue from the end of this month. Some people have received them early.

That's right, it's still an ADSL router they just use it for PPPoE and 3 port switch

A friend of mine had his fibre install yesterday, The BTO engineer turned up and confirmed the Modem was working, however the Sky Router (the Sagem) would not connect! He was apparently the first one to be enabled at the Exchange. When he contacted Sky, they said there have been some cases where the Sagem would not connect. he is getting the SR101 sent out to him instead.

I am also having Fibre installed (2nd November) I received the new Sky Router the SR101, Sky said that he can borrow mine until he gets his new router (apparently they aren't pre-configured with my connection details). Unfortunately even the this did not work. Now he has no Internet Connection at all.

He is going to try and call Sky again today.

interesting if that is the case, the Sky CS may have got it wrong. Maybe the BTO Modem is at fault. He has a re-visit booked tomorrow. Will find out then.

I wonder if it's a just a bunch of MACs on an allow list ala sticky port security?
Anyone know how MER actually works? Is the BT modem a passthrough device of sorts?

My go live is end of this month. Naturally, I'm not expecting it to work first time :p

"activation" date was yesterday, engineer came round with the openreach box which has a solid light for DSL. engineer said line has no noise and connected fine with a BT mode,

Sky router wont connect to the net, though i have heard rumours sky is down in my town, been told to wait upto 72 hours for a fix.
plus i got send the silver black one, but it seems fine.
