Sky Fibre Optic

My Sky router can take up to 60 seconds to load the config pages even though they're local. I've always assumed this was just the poor standard of routers they send out, but now I'm wondering if I'm the only one with this problem, in which case I'll be getting them to send me a new one! Anybody?

Definitley not a problem for me loads almost instantly

Just rebooted my router to see if it helped (It didn't, not that I haven't tried before!), and after noticing I was only synced at 32/7 (Instead of 40/10). It's just come on and resynced at:

DownStream Connection Speed 33654 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 7508 kbps

To be honest I think it's always been like this, but the BTO engineer showed me the potential speed readout of 115/35, which led me to believe that up to a level of say 120/40, I would get 100% speed, could this be a sign of a faulty router if I'm losing 7 down and 2.5 up?

Guys this is probably going to be really stupid but Sky say I can get fibre optic but I can't see any fibre optic points on my road.
A friend who is an electrician said I can't get fibre but is what Sky are offering not true fibre?

Bit confused here? :(

How are people finding the new router? I keep losing wireless on the current router, never used to on previous ADSL routers.

Have they told you what speeds they can provide you with?
If it is 40Mbps (or there abouts), it's fibre.

Your friend is probably talking about the difference between FTTC (fibre to the cabinet) and FTTH (fibre to the home) - see http://www.thinkbroadband.com/guide/fibre-broadband.html

Yes I found it on billion 7800n forum as I need it too have a search there failing that I'll dig it out....

I go live this Tuesday :)

I switched to Virgin some months back because Sky took ages to repair my line when it was down. And only now I find out that Sky has fibre. I went on their site and it turns out I they have it available for my phone line/postcode. Major bummer... Virgin doesn't.

Guess I'll have to switch back.

Strange. I phoned Sky up this evening to switch to Fibre Pro and they told me it's not available to order yet. He confirmed it with his manager. Maybe I'll call again tomorrow.
