Sky Fibre Optic

You'll need to use the BT modem > Sky router > Apple router.
Give static IPs to both routers on same subnet.. eg Sky 192.168.0.1 and apple 192.168.0.2.
disable wifi and DHCP on sky router. set apple router to use DHCP pool of eg. 192.168.0.10 and upwards.
on the sky router - add the IP of the apple router in the DMZ

this needs stickying tbh

Strange. I phoned Sky up this evening to switch to Fibre Pro and they told me it's not available to order yet. He confirmed it with his manager. Maybe I'll call again tomorrow.

^^ That was yesterday.

I phoned up today and ordered it without a problem. Some CS staff are just winging it.

Poor training. :(

Seems pretty odd that some staff in the upgrade department aren't even aware of their products. There aren't that many broadband packages! After I told him I was sure that other people were on the Pro package, why not find out and ring me back instead of just plain denying it exists? Well dodgy!

Had the connection for two weeks now, delighted with it. Full speeds at all times, never had a ping to a UK server over 10ms. Fantastic service.

Sky were adamant that I wouldn't get more than 51Mbps download on Fibre Pro. It went active today.

Sync speeds:
DownStream Connection Speed 76337 kbps
UpStream Connection Speed 20000 kbps

Guys

Got the engineer coming round between 8 - 1pm today, trouble is the phone line isn't active as there has been an issue at the exchange since last Wednesday :( I called and they said they would still go ahead with the install and that it might work anyway?

I'm doubtful really but might as well get it installed anyway...

Well my number hasn't changed over as yet, should happen today but I just got the stats from my Sky router (I have a Billion 7800n) to put in when I get time, stats are shown as below, looks good?

About as good as it gets for 40/10 :)

Thought as much, could try pro out, the cab is at the end of my road (could throw a stone at it from my front door) but I'm happy with these speeds really :D

Mart

EDIT: Speed test are all over the place at the minute, best let it settle for a few days I think

Anyone got any instructions on how to change a SR101 SKy router for my Billion 7800n?? Thanks

Hi the fttc checker at
says its now accepting orders, I think it changed in the last 24 hours. How long before sky (my current provider) get the info and I can upgrade?

also some of the other checkers are still saying december :( hope my cabinet is done

The cab is the important part. What does the BT wholesale checker report? https://www.btwholesale.com/pages/s...unity/Coverage/ADSL_Availibility_Checker.html

Your cabinet is planned to have WBC FTTC by 31st December 2012. Our test also indicates that your line currently supports a fibre technology with an estimated WBC FTTC Broadband where consumers have received downstream line speed between 33.2 to 80 Mbps and upstream line speed between 6 to 20 Mbps.

:( still waiting then, new fibre cab is there though which is a good sign :)
