SKY HD

Well the only reason to waste money on it now is for the world cup. That is certainly worth it though :)

Its the same on AVforums the whinging about the price, if you dont like it dont buy it, if like me you dont care but just want the HD to feed your HDTV then buy it.

24th of May here I come

I spent £3000 on my pioneer plasma so I think not buying sky hd would be like buying a Ferrari and not having a road to drive it on. ;)

Forums on Avforums and Digital Spy are reporting that there is currently a supply problem with the SKY HD boxes and a lot of installs are being put back with £20 credits being dished out by SKY as compensation.

But if your booked for the 22nd your ok, so it seems , which i am :)

Theres just a huge shortage of boxes, id like to know how many a week there producing

How can they take pre orders and give instalation dates and take the full £299 if there isnt enough box's? Anyone actually know someone that has been put back and given twenty quid or is this just an urban mith

Just think of the interest Sky has earned from keeping 40,000 people's £299 ;)

Word is 22,000 peoples installation will be moved to a later date due to problems with the box.

It's crap - I just got a call.

I was booked for the 23rd, but they've not got enough boxes so I'm rebooked for *** 27th at my new house (apparently). Strange as when I asked if they could change the address for the install they said 'no', and now they can...

I can see this going horribly wrong.

But yeah, I'm getting a £20 credit too.

Hmmm, now I'm totally confused. I'm moving house the day after my original install date (23rd May), and had booked the Sky home move for the 25th.

I've rung Sky to check this out - my HD install is STILL on for the 23rd, but the home move date has been changed to the 27th (from the 25th). First person I talked to at Sky said that I'll still get a 23rd May install for the HD at my current.

I've not got a credit yet, and the 2nd person I talked to (this time from the HD team) has told me that the systems were all updated this morning, and if my date still says the 23rd then I'm OK. He's asked me to call back tomorrow and check.

Apparently the delay is down to stock issues on the boxes.

Just had a call from sky HD saying they have a supply problem and will install not on the 24th May but on the 2nd June and give me £20 credit for the bother, cant say im too fussed

Still no word from Sky for me so I'm assuming everything is go for tomorrow. Got my optical and HDMI leads sitting ready to go and will take the old V1 Pace out last thing tonight. I'll let you know if it arrives tomorrow!

How many HD tv's can be run from the HD digibox. Will secondary tv's have to use a non HD connection on the HD box leaving just the main HDTV on HD?

Just wondering whether its worth paying the extra dosh to get a few 17inch HD LCD tv's or by saving a considerable amount of dosh and by just getting the 1280 x 768 LCD tv's.

Maybe I'm all wrong with regards to HD and resolution

Right guys, it's the 22nd so some of you are getting the new toy today.

I think it's fair to expect a few pics and a nice little review from some of you :p

Got mine installed at 10am this morning. It all went very smoothly (but then I'd already sorted HDMI and optical leads out etc.).

It's very nice, but I've seen HD output via my Xbox 360 so it wasn't 'OMG WOW!' for me.

I agree that BBC HD is currently the best looking channel. National Geographic looks a bit noisy/grainy by comparison and haven't tried Discovery yet. Artsworld is broadcasting awful looking SD and Sky One HD was giving me Scrubs in 14:9 for some reason.

I'll post some more impressions and some pictures later when I've seen some actual HD footage other than the BBC and National Geo.
