SKY HD

Does anyone have any idea where i can get hold of a box in time for the wold cup? I would even pay a little over the £300 if i have to
 
sky engineer here at 0830 HD working by 0900 and OMG how good is BBC HD, havent got all my channels working yet but may take a few hours apparently, cant quite decide on 1080i or 720p cant really tell the difference yet, even normal sky channels look less pixelated

You don't actually need a Sky box for The world cup. Both Humax and Pace have HDTV DVBS2 recievers that will recieve BBC HD from your existing dish. They're the Pace DS810XE, and Humax HDCI-2000 respectively.

You can alway sell it once it's over.

Thats a stupid thing to do, why pay £300 just so that u can sell it and buy another one from sky for £300, Just watch it in SD? Its not like the world will end if you dont.

Some ODEON cinemas are showing england games in HD. Probley your best bet the sky engineer that installed mine yesterday said he wants sky hd but sky wont allow staff to have it until customer demand has died down.

that is what my engineer said to me today... but they do get it free !
 
Had mine a few days and its pretty good.

BBC HD is far and away the best IQ wise - stunning at times.

Box is noisier than Pace Sky + box, SD on component is poor so i have HD on component and SD on scart. HDMI on a mates look poor on SD. Scart on SD is better than on my Pace box so thats good.

Cricket looks good, movies average NG + disco look good at times and average at times.

Certinally not blown away, all bar the BBC is way below US hd ive seen. I suspect lower bitrates and 1080i are the main culprits here.

Some stuff is in DD and sounds awesome. Yes it has optical out (as did sky+)

The world cup is not in DD tho and thats a shame :(
 
I've cancelled my order and installation for Sky HD for the moment as there are some serious issues with the receiver box and Pioneer plasmas at the moment. As far as I can tell there a problem with the hdmi connection causing damage to the media receiver on the 436xde's.

I been reading about this on avforums as well.. :( :mad:

I don't know what to do now,,i was going to put my order in for skyHD tomorrow.... :confused:

Am now just praying this is a fault with the skyhd box and not the pioneer media receiver..
