*** Sky Q Thread ***

Just got off the phone with Sky, I currently have a Sky+ package and Fibre and phones line and pay £55 per month. As I'm moving I cancelled to see if I got any offers which appeared on my interactive screen as 60% off although my Sky account online only showed a 50% offer..

Talked to a lovely lady and got the below being installed second week in Feb in the new place

SkyQ 1TB
SkyQ mini
SkyQ router (With fibre 40/10)
BT Phone-line

In total I paid £50 for the fibre activation (up front) and she managed to waiver the £55 SkyQ setup/moving home fee and knocked another £2.50 off my BB and applied a 67% discount on my TV package for 18 months so my total bill per month will be £45.46 as I currently only have the variety package ...

I'm happy with that offer ...

Sky has today announced that, as of some point in 2018, its premium Sky Q TV service will become available to customers without the need to install a satellite dish first.

The new Sky Q option will provide all of its content over a broadband connection instead, further highlighting both Sky Q's web-connected smarts, and the changing nature of TV viewing habits. If ever there was a sign that we're moving away from cable TV to a streaming-only world, this is probably it, with the Sky Q hardware following in the footsteps of Sky's Now TV box.

It might be a coincidence but I have had much better stability (can't remember the last time the broadband connection error has shown) since putting my Sky Q router/access point on a UPS.

Just renewed Sky (after cancelling, obviously....)

I had a discounted rate that went back to a normal £110 a month (Fibre + everything but movies).

I've now resigned with sky, dropping the sports and upgrading to Sky Q 2TB (+ additional mini box / multiscreen) for £55 a month (with no additional fees) on a 12 month contract.

Pretty chuffed.

A few more Q questions/remarks .. after playing with parents new install, for first time, today:
- no series link on (bbc) radio programs (somewhat a casualty of lost manual recording, I guess)
- contrast/highlight on selected item in gui is poor , no obvious way to improve it (re-skin)
- no program reminder option ( like my humax has had for years ) where it switches viewed program, as opposed to, just an option to schedule recording.
- (a general satellite question) is the sound bitrate higher on the HD (sky&freesat) channels, compared to SD variant ? ... for the elderly ears.

EDIT: forgot one - lack of A-Z search of upcoming shows in guide

Sky Q 2TB box issue

My Sky Q 2TB box keeps reverting back to 1080i when I turn it off and back on. Then I have to manually change the resolution again.

Can anyone help, thanks

A few more Q questions/remarks .. after playing with parents new install, for first time, today:
- no series link on (bbc) radio programs (somewhat a casualty of lost manual recording, I guess)you should be able to series link radio I think.
- contrast/highlight on selected item in gui is poor , no obvious way to improve it (re-skin) more options including high contrast coming again later this year.
- no program reminder option ( like my humax has had for years ) where it switches viewed program, as opposed to, just an option to schedule recording. It's been requested and will likely make a reappearance at some point.
- (a general satellite question) is the sound bitrate higher on the HD (sky&freesat) channels, compared to SD variant ? ... for the elderly ears. Sound on Sky cinema has certainly changed but I don't think anything has changed on normal channels.

EDIT: forgot one - lack of A-Z search of upcoming shows in guide. General search should show on demand, recordings and shows on in the next week.
Responded.
