*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

That's nice but it's a shame they treat customers who have been with them 14+ years worse than new subs

Firstly the market is pretty much saturated so Sky, VM & BT are all in the business of trying to pinch each others customers, hence the good deals for new subscribers.

Secondly, all I'm seeing on here lately is how, if you cancel and wait 30 days, a 50% off offer is almost guaranteed to appear. Doesn't sound too bad for existing customers.

By the way the 50% off deal that was being offered to customers when logging into your account is minus HD, which is an extra £6.50 p/m. Basically the 50% off i had for 10 month prior I was paying £36 just minus movies, it was going to be £45 this time around. Not a chance I'm paying that. Cancelled again.

Mine included it I'm on the family package no movies/sport, so my £36 reduced to £18. Perhaps the movies/sport is why it was different for you?

Mine included HD.
I was on "Family Bundle" - £36/month and then £38/month June.
Family Bundle has a number of HD channels included.
The 50% offer (which was in my account the day after I cancelled) was just that - 50% of my existing package if I wanted to come back.
Logged into my account after accepting it. My next two monthly bills are already showing in my account at £19 and it's the "Family Bundle" so already comes with HD.

With regards new contract - I am now tied in for 12 months, but I'm happy enough with that. If I'm accepting a 50% offer I want it for at least another year before going through the same process again.

Well I think they cocked up my first cancellation and that is why I was missing HD, when cancelling before I would have my paid package for 30 days, this time around after cancelling and giving the 30 days notice I suddenly lost HD, so they obviously cocked up here. I then spoke to two Sky employees who couldn't understand the 50% offer I had received. I got sick of it all in the end and just asked them to cancel (again), I will just wait for a phone call nearer the start of the football season.

Sticking my cancellation in on the 23rd, been with them 6 years now and to be honest, with the likes of netflix etc Sky TV is a service that is not required anymore.

Keeping their Fibre though as it has been fantastic for me.

I got the 50% off and £50 credit offer on a rolling contract after a short go on live chat. He wouldn't budge on a reduction on the multiroom sub, but i figured the 50% and £50 was pretty good.

Just can't wait to do something about the fibre now, for £37 quid I can get a MUCH better deal elsewhere. The 18 month contract was a big mistake on my part.

I had the 50%, 50quid and no contact. Still said no, he was shocked, lol. To be fair it's a good deal, I'm just bored with everything on sky.

I cancelled last night with some nice bloke called David, went into account today 50% offer in place which I've taken up, really don't understand there logic

My assumption is that a fair percentage say "yes" to the 30% offer they are usually given during the chat.
Bottom line, getting anything from a customer is better than getting nothing (although they are going to have what they consider a rock-bottom price).
Enough people must say yes to the 30% to make it worth their while trying to sell that to you during the online chat.
When that fails they hit you with the last-ditch 50%.
As above, I went through this a few weeks ago, less than 24hrs after cancelling there was the offer.
Going to do the same for my mum next week.

yeah I've been doing it for the last six years, you think they'd get the message :D

Last year when I cancelled it was some Scottish woman who said "If you think your doing this to get half price your not getting it and I'm putting a note on your account". Ended up with 50% and a £100 credit :D

I've been with Sky since 2000 and have never been offered any sort of worthwhile deal. So last night i cancelled. My monthly payment was £41.25 for the Variety pack, Sky+HD pack and Sky+HD. As this was an old bundle it included F1 as well. During chat i was offered the same bundle for £36 a month. Still cancelled after reading this thread, so will now wait with baited breath to see if a 50% offer wings my way.

Check now - probably already there :)

Checked it just now and it was there :p so clicked on the accept button.
The new monthly cost isn't showing up though, it still shows as being £41.25. I'll check it again latter.

I clicked mine on a Saturday - account page didn't seem to update until the Tuesday. Showed my "final payment" as described during the online chat and then showed the next two monthly bills would be £19, which was half the £38 I should have been paying.

I know from using the sky site in the past that it takes an age to update anything. Looking forward to a £20 a month cost though......................probably about what it's really worth in all honesty. Had enough of helping keep the Murdock family in the manner to which they have become accustomed. I certainly wont have any hesitation just cancelling again when the 12 months is up.
