*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

So what happens when you cancel? Do you just ring up and say the price is ridiculous and you wanna cancel the subscription? Then I gather you've got a month left of useage till it's cut off so theyll try to entice you before it is?

Yeah you just ring up they will try to do you a 25% offer when cancelling then just say no get the 31 day cancellation period and they will ring you if they have your mobile number on file, if not they email you to get you to stay ;)

Yip, they did the same to me. Except this time I don;t want to go back as I'm not watching tv.

They call you about 2 / 3 times a day.

So, just to clarify on behalf of a friend...

If he cancels and waits is it almost certain he'll get the 50% off offer in his account?

If he does and accepts it, would it be like-for-like on his current package (has legacy F1 and terrified of losing it)

If, for some reason, the offer doesn't come, can he change his mind on the cancellation before the 30 days is up and carry on as before?

Until it actually cancels he can stop the cancellation and remain on his chosen package. If it actually stops and he then reinstates he'll lose the legacy HD package.

(4th Nov 2015) Ok so got a call yesterday from Sky on a Derby number and they offered free Sky basic package for 6 months and £8 a month after that. No contract too! Not too bad me thinks so will take them up and cancel after 6 months!

Well my 6 months is up and I just cancelled after paying the extra few quid that was owed on the account. Not really using it much, will wait until the next freebie deal comes around!

This is all very interesting. Sky screwed up with us when our broadband supplier (Be) were acquired by Sky.
Sky set up a completely separate account for our internet so we never got the discounts associated with having TV and internet.

I rang up numerous times to get this sorted out and to merge the accounts, got messed about for well over half a year of them promising and failing to deliver.

I said I may as well cancel the whole lot and the best they could do was take about £15 off TV and broadband for about £5. This leaves it as still over £70 for movies, HD, sports (including F1), multiroom and crap broadband.

I said I may as well cancel and come back to new customer offers but they said you have to leave for 12 months for any new customer offers to apply.

Do I just bite the bullet and actually tell them to cancel it??

Seems some folks here have mentioned about cancelling, and then re-applying under a different persons name. eg: If it's under the husband, the wife then applies...

Can't vouch for this myself...

I think they're a bit hotter on this than they used to be. If the surname and address are the same it'll likely set alarm bells ringing.

Cancelled just now, already have the 50% in account but its unclear if its 50% off everything or just portions. Will let them call me otherwise will rejoin in my gf's name

i was unsure as well clicked it anyway, normal package (sky plus movies) for me is £56 my next bill is showing as £28

It doesn't, and it doesn't include HD just so you're aware.

My Sky officially ends early June, I'm quite interested in Q but I've been quoted £96 a month to get the full package. I nearly spat my tea out! No offers as it's a "premium" service. Oh well!
