*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

I've just cancelled, I was holding fire for the 4K offering in the hope there would be some sort of deal for those already on a discount package. Would appear not.

Over £100 for a package, with my usage just doesn't make monetary sense, so they can do one.

Well, personally, I'd be happy with 35% :)

When you have done it for a few years and seen discounts of 50/60% with credit too it soon gets depressing having to do the cancel jig to get it when you are an existing customer. Especially when you ring up and they say "oh I can see you have been a long term loyal customer here's 15% off". You then say no, cancel, website immediately says 35% and so on. What did it for me is they didnt even offer a new free box this time and I could do with one.

Actually not missing it this time round.

Well... When we phone up to cancel about 8 months ago, they gave us 35-40% over the phone immediately... That was good.

That's run out now, so phoned up last week and we were offer your "loyal customer 15%"... So tomorrow we'll phone up and actually go ahead with the cancel. I don't want to, but I'd like that 35%...

Hoping for a bit of advice on this one (not TV related but for Sky broadband)

I took out Sky broadband last September via an offer on moneysavingexpert, basically 1/2 price line rental, free internet and £150 credit i think (not sure on the actual deal now). This has been fine, I saw yesterday a deal for BT Infinity (£200 cashback, 1/2 price fibre)

I jumped onto sky live chat to see if I could cancel, they tried to haggle but weren't close on price. I then asked if I was locked into my contract till September, (I originally took a year) After a few minutes I had this reply

"I have had a look at your account and there will be no Early termination charges. We would just require a minimum of 14 days notice. So you can go ahead and contact a new provider to request an active line take over"

So I signed up to BT, this morning I receive this message from sky

"Your Talk service will switch to a new provider on 10/08/2016. As you're in contract Sky early cancellation charges apply. To discuss call............"

So I'm a little confused by this, I did take a screenshot of the original chat, so I have that to send. Is there anything you think that could help me before I call them?

Thanks

You always get the best deal the day after its cut off , people have different biting points though, and hate the thought of it being cut off.

My months notice is going in soon, ill only sign up with at least 60% and £100 credit again, if i dont get it, fine, i wont have sky.

For sky, £28 a month from me is better than nothing.

I just cancelled mine today, only want family HD package but the best off is £28 which is too much for my viewing habit. Happy to wait to see what offer i get to entice me back.

My bill is £103.50 with discounts. After this month its going up to £135 for whole TV package, 3 multiroom boxes and phone and broadband.

I am cancelling tomorrow, but have a feeling they will offer me a deal similar to what i'm on now. However, I'm weighing up whether or not to go through with the cancellation in the hope I'll get a better deal come through.

Has a good offer come through for most who have cancelled? I have a 100% payment record so I'm not a problem customer. Was just wondering whether they offer deals based on some sort of risk factor, i.e customers with lots of late payments and disconnections don't get as good a deal as solid payers.

Checked my online account just now and noticed I now had an offer for 50% off for 12 months. Clicked the button expecting it to give me a full breakdown of that discount in relation to my subscription but no, it apparently just renewed my contract there and then.

Annoying. Is 50% about standard for what I'd get anyway (base channels + HD pack) or is it worth getting them to cancel that offer in the hope of something better? I assume the 50% off includes HD as opposed to just the base subscription with HD still full price.

Odd that, i always thought you had to call or do it via online chat to renew.

Well I called to cancel this morning. Wasn't that bothered about exactly 50% off, was just happy with my 40% off new customer offer. Got a really nice chap who just renewed it straight away for another 12 months. Happy with that.

So I have the complete package, 3 Sky HD+ multiroom boxes, Line rental and broadband unlimited plus all the extra sky go extra gubbins for £100 a month. Can't really complain too much with that. Saves all the cancelling crap.

Yeah me too it just says do online chat or call.

Yep just checked the 35% offer has now been replaced by the 50% offer and if you hit the take the offer button you sign back up there and then.

We hate goodbyes, so we've got an exclusive offer for you to stay with Sky TV. Get 50% off any Sky+ TV Bundle for 12 months when you sign up for another year. Standard pricing applies thereafter at £22.50 – £80pm.
To claim your offer, select the 'Take your offer' button below. This offer will replace any existing TV offers on your account.
If your current Sky+ TV Bundle isn't right for you, you can use your offer to switch to one of our other TV Bundles. You'll just need to Live Chat with an advisor to do this.
By selecting the 'Take your offer' button below, you agree to the terms and conditions of the offer below and confirm that you are the account holder and authorised to make changes to this account. Offer ends 29 September 2016

If thats what they think of their customers on the right they can stuff it !!! :) A pig, on wheels !!!!

Just for info the Sky package I`m not renewing would be what was the old Sky World one. All the channels inc Sports, F1 and Movies for about £40 per month.

Thinking of cancelling Sky to get a discount since we've had it for years.

Am I right in saying the discount on the website will appear after giving notice so I don't actually end up leaving? Thanks.

It did for me, as above. Just be certain you want it because it doesn't really ask for any confirmation.

Thanks, just wanted to check that this offer would appear before I'm actually cut off and lose access to stuff I've recorded.

you don't lose access to stuff you have recorded. the box is yours to keep forever.

you lose access to decrypt them. as soon as you subscribe to the same channel again you can decrypt it again.

you could record something. cancel sky. leave the country for 2 years. come back subscribe to the same package and then watch what you recorded 3 years ago.
