*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

would like to know what is wrong with the broadband service?

im having it installed next week hopefully as part of my package.

it will be a downgrade from VM 100 MB but the package offered was too good to turn down.

I've had more disruption, drop outs and general slow downs in the 6 months I've been back on this Sky connection than I did in 7 years of being with BT and Demon as my ISP.
Even getting a competent engineer out to fix a problem I ended up diagnosing correctly myself took 3 WEEKS in which time I was without internet access at all.
I'm giving notice to leave today as I'm pig sick of the internet service at the very least, and the price of the basic package I have for TV is bordering a joke as well.

I still don't understand why people pay so much for sky. When the weather was awful, I used to experience long periods where I couldn't watch anything, or at best, had a glitchy picture. Ringing them up and complaining resulted in a refund but I bet many people can't be bothered to do this.

I had my dish realigned and everything, still didn't help. When my Sky box died and they wanted to charge me £60 to replace it, I left. Cheeky sods!

I've been on VM a while now, and can't remember the last time I had a dropout. Shame their customer service can be a right pain.

just cancelled sky, only used to watch sky news most of the time anyway.
my daughter watches crime investigation channel and wife occasionally watches comedy central .
ive noticed that BTVision has these channels and would only cost £7 a month.
thats much cheaper than what i was paying sky.
i have infinity broadband with BT , and my phone line is with them as well.

i just need to know if anyone here has BTVision , and what the service is like ?

Hey all just after some advice on whats best to do.

I have Sky with HD, movies and entertainment extra packs, it costs me £48 a month.

Next month i am moving house (Hope to move in around the 21st of June), what is my best option?

  • Cancel my sky now and call as a new customer when in my new house, which may get me some discount and possibly a £25 M&S voucher.

  • Cancel/Say im going to cancel and if they offer me a better deal, take it then say i am moving?

  • Or do you have any better ideas for me?

Sky have just called me and I've accepted their offer of 50% off :)
so i now have the same package and will only be paying £29 a month for the next 12 months.

I'am still moving house this Friday 21st, when would be the best time to tell them im moving house. will it matter if i do it as soon as this tuesday, or should i give it a week?

gave sky the 31 days notice they required to end my sub. it hasnt been a week and ive already had 3 missed calls from sky.
i answered today and i was instantly offered 50% off, i asked them what part of "i cant afford it" dont you understand.
.... dont know if he felt sorry for me but i ended up with 6 months full package , hd , 3d and multiroom for the grand total of £0.00.

lmao do people not think before gobbling up telesales crap?

effectively 50% off as you will have signed up for a new 12 month contract and basically for 6 months you pay zero and the other 6 months you pay 100%, overall 50% off, which is what he initially offered you, but you accpeted it in another form.

no difference between 50% off and the deal you got effectively, therefore you got the same deal everyone else gets usually.

your basically getting 3 months free due to quidco which people who sign up over the phone never get, on top of all the other discounts. you did things the smart way by signing up as a new customer (always a better deal).

personally i wouldn't be paying for multiroom if you only have extra+, would rather just get freesat in the second room personally or buy a hdmi splitter (if such a thing exists) and plug the 1 box into 2 tv's (wiring may be an issue).

i went for multi room because we have sports and movies on top of extra+ and everything else as well as 6 of us all under the one roof.

use sky player on 360 to get sky in a 3rd room for free, could also use laptop in another room to get it in a fourth room (we have sky go extra so up to 4 devices)
