*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Currently on Virgin's Ultimate oomph deal at £79pm till Sept. 22 (18m deal then goes up to £139pm!!!) Just got a notification from Virgin of a price hike of £8pm starting in Feb. 22 which would mean £147pm.........just wow at that price. Fortunately I will stay at £79pm till Sept. 2022. Then probably back to Sky if a good enough price though I must admit as I get older I don't enjoy the hassle of changing provider. Starting to think I could get by with google tv/Netflix/Prime.

Holy smokes that’s ridiculous.

My sky package has just gone up so I'm going to cancel to see if they offer me a better deal. Any advice on contact method for best results, email, call or live chat?

I got this on the day I cancelled, are you not able to push harder? Speak to the Win Back team if you can. Or maybe I got really, really lucky.

Did they offer you this deal straight away after you said you wanted to cancel or did you have to wait for a while for them to get back to you with the offer?

I cancelled first and then rang back shortly after and I asked to speak to the win back team.

Just had a phone call and they offered £42 for Netflix, full Sport & UHD.

£1 less than I was currently paying also less Multiroom.

Just been offered the below (in the cancelation period) by letter

Box / Cinema / Sports £35
Netflix £5
HD £3
Ultra HD £4
Multiroom £10
(£50)

Plus Bband Superfast £28

Grand total:
£85

Is this about the best I'll get?

Cheers,

I've spoken to them online and they aren't offering me a good enough deal to stay. Will cancel and see if they offer something better.

seems most people get ultra hd free with retention offers.

Do you think I would he able to return my sky glass and go back to sky Q? It is just so inconsistent.
  • Sound is awful can hear the speaker crackle when at half volume
  • Crashes all the time usually in the morning when first turns on
  • The puck upstairs never turns on, usually about 10 mins fiddling about with it then I can't be bothered watching TV
  • The episodes are very unorganised and usually weeks behind.
  • The remote stopped working altogether today, checked batteries and there is battery acid leaking right into the remote (duracells provided)
  • Programmes randomly freeze all the time.

Handed my notice in on the 5th and not heard anything from sky so far. I did originally accept a deal but later declined it and gave my 30 days notice. They have left the broadband deal on at £34pm for 500Mb/s ultrafast though, said it would revert to the usual price of £45pm but it’s still showing the deal.

After looking at the deals people are getting I think the best I could hope for is around £24 for Signature, Netflix, Hd/Ultra. It’s a good price but I get Netflix free if I pay using my crypto card. I think I’m going to actually see the cancellation through and see what it’s like without sky.

I'm also leaning towards just cancelling and seeing what it's like without. We have Netflix and Disney+. The only thing I would really miss is the sport, but I could see if there are other alternatives for that.

I left over 2 years ago now and never missed anything on Sky.

What do you have now, just freeview/freesat?
Netflix, Amazon which I already had and freeview yeah... just never missed it. Basically now on Sky imho, it's like 900 channels of +1, _2, _3 and channels I simply nevr ever watched... and when I did it was garbage so for me... just money down the pan.

I cancelled my F1 package last December and yesterday gave my 30 days notice for the rest of my package to end too. Considering we have Netflix, Prime and Disney I just can't justify continuing with Sky at the extortionate prices they want. Cutting the cord, let's see how it goes :)

Life is much better without the TV subscription/live TV extortion (IMO) it's been so long since I've used anything other than the odd Freeview channel for live TV news or a special event that it's hard to think why I cared so much in the first place. I think the worst thing is all the adverts, you'd think you could get and free channels when you are paying out so much money!

I've tried to cancel over live chat but it seems to take forever. Last time I tried, they told me I would be 'on hold' for hours because it was a busy time. Might just have to try it over the phone when I get a chance.
