*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

Just changed down to the essentials pack £30 a month with broadband and line rental no sky channels but we can continue to use the sky q box for recording freesat channels.

Can someone else check for me that has sky sports in HD if your getting billed twice for HD, I have a bill on mine for skyHD then then another for SkysportsHD, that I have just noticed

Got a renewal notification today. Up to £104 a month and thats only on the 500mb internet not the new 900 and a fairly basic TV package.
Going to call tomorrow and tell them to stick it. Already got Lila install booked for next week. £29.98 a month for 1000/1000. How sky can be serious about charging £50 a month for 525/80 while this rival exists I do not know.

Given most of the population can't get Lila, I doubt Sky are quaking in their boots.

They did actually offer to pricematch it which I did not expect. Then also added an admin charge. Still half the download and not even comparable upload.

It is true Lila are not everywhere but they are expanding fast and there are others like them. It wont be long before the openreach based isps will need to compete better

I started the "Leaving Sky" dance today. I don't use any of the Premium services - so only have it for the "Sky Exclusive" channels plus of course I get Netflix cheaper. I will add-in the Sky Q box as another plus to the service - it does just work.
I was offered:
Sky Signature - £17
Ultimate TV Add-on - £6
HD - £4
UHD - £2
That would be for the entire 18 months (of course I'm aware that there is a yearly increase to be had).
So £29/month. If I dropped Sky, then my Netflix would cost me £16 (as I'm on top tier and want the UHD content) - so I guess it's like paying £13/month for the Sky channels plus having the 2TB Sky Q box.
When he was putting it onto my account, he read back the package and the price and it came to £27/month. I queried (as I didn't want him to put it together to find something was missing). He said there was an additional £2/month discount that had carried over? and yes, £27/month for 18 months.

So just deciding now if to go ahead or continue and cancel. Right now, if I look at Netflix as a "full price" product - Sky are effectively offering me Sky Channels/HD/UHD/Box-Sets for £11/month.

I've just called them and cancelled at TV just via the chat robot, has anyone else cancelled this way? I just wondered went to excpect some form of confirmation. I expected to be put through to rententions or something.

Pretty much everyone I know, whether they're struggling or not with the cost of living, are cancelling Sky. They must be losing so many customers, yet they really don't seem arsed about keeping any of them. Madness. Just goes to show the sort of margins they are getting on the mugs paying full price

LOL! Three hours waiting on their chat, SMS not working, for some reason I can't email them either, so in 2022, the only option left is actually posting a letter! - But Sky Glass works by magic apparently!

I never understand Sky, my email new price, what he said on the phone and what the sky app future prices, all don't match!
How many days till it all aligns. Future bills are different today than yesterday, so will they change again?
Or it's another boring phone call...

Phoned sky this morning, as my future bills did not reflect what they guy had said.
Strangely, they answered instantly! But what the guy told me was not on the system.
They didn't even know how he managed to get the price I was offered.
They listened to the phone call and heard what he said, but said they don't honour what agents tell people....seems a bit bad.
But they did in the end and gave me £10 credit for the hassle, not much, but better than nothing.

I just got off the phone to sky but they wont budge despite the price hikes.

I have netflix with them (Ultimate add on?) But thats £6. How come its much more expensive with netflix direct? £15.99?

Signature £21
Ultimate Add on £6
Sky Kids £3
Sky HD £5 (wtf)
Multiscreen £13
3D free (3D? wtf didnt this fad die?)
Ultra HD £2

Yep same for me.
Could anyone clarify my question about netflix please? Most appreciated.

I think the tier of Netflix you get depends on whether you get 'Sky HD' and 'Sky UHD' as well.

The 'Ultimate' add on gives you Netflix Basic which normally costs £6.99.

If you have 'Ultimate' plus 'Sky HD', you get Netflix Standard, which normally costs £10.99.

If you have 'Ultimate' plus 'Sky HD' and 'Sky UHD', you get Netflix Premium, which normally costs £15.99.

It is difficult to perform a direct comparison but I think you probably need to take into account some of the cost of 'Sky HD' and 'Sky UHD' as well. You are still saving but it is not quite as much as is suggested by just comparing the cost of 'Ultimate' with that of Netflix Premium.
