*** Sky TV Cancellation & Negotiation Thread ***

How long should I expect to wait before Sky contact me about my cancellation? It's been 2 weeks now - still got another 2 weeks to go, but the other half will kill me if it does actually cancel :p

If you have your marketing preferences set to no contact then legally they can't contact you. Have a search for the retentions telephone number.

Just had the email about sky stream price increase from April, I want to leave at the end of contract anyway. Has anyone had any luck cancelling contract due to the price increase?

Managed to get my TV and broadband bill down from nearly £120 down to £78. First woman I spoke to was completely useless and was giving me a "deal" that was more than was I was paying now.

Asked to leave and she put me through to retentions who soon brought the bill down.

I received letters and text messages a few weeks into cancellation, they still weren't as good as the new customer deals so I ended up letting it lapse.

Spoke to 'Douglas' at Sky. He reduced my bill fro £78 to £69, more or less what I was paying before but I've made the decision to look elsewhere once my contract is up as I've had enough of this BS. I'll likely look at a 5G modem as this building limits my openreach speeds to 70mb anyway.

All these 'packages' and addons is all utter BS. I only keep it for the wife who likes her indian tv channel soaps crap so I've told her to enjoy that whilst it lasts.

the international channels for your wife are all included in the basic signature which is around £20-£24 if you were to just keep that. they also do/did a cheaper essential package but not sure if that includes the international channels
the rest depends on what you are adding, like netflix, sports etc.

Yes, that is what I have, and what I was paying £36.50, which is down to £27 now with the new changes. At the end of the day I need to get the wife away from that rubbish as it is 90% adverts split amongst lame soaps and talent shows. EETV do TV packages for much cheaper but being locked in a Sky contract prevents me from moving to them for now so I'll see it out.

So I signed upto to Sky Stream when I moved into my new property last Sept and have been using it since then as I didnt want to put a dish on the my wall.
Last months after the 1000th instance of lip sync issues and 2 of the programs I wanted to on watch on catchup not being available on any of the respective 100 apps you now have to use I raised a complaint via the website and a few days later a nice lady called me back.

After discussion she told that Sky were aware of the lipsync issues but there wasn't a timeline for a fix, I also went detailed the examples of the shows that we would normally have recorded not being available on catchup services. I asked if it possible to switch to a dish with Sky Q on the same package, to my surprise she actually agreed but it also meant the stream package would need to be terminated first and a the dish would be a new installation.

The is now done as of this weekend, and took 3 weeks to turnaround. All in all happy with the result and still paying £77 p/m for the full lot inc TNT Sports and UHD.

Put it this way, I won't be giving up my Q system any time soon. For Glass or Stream.

So i just called up sky and said i want to cancel due to price rise and the lip sync issue and all I have to do is give 31 days notice and pay the final bill which is the normal amount.

My contract was due to end in December so i'm happy with the outcome.

Are there Sky scam contact calls going round ?
had a call with oriental female accent - suggesting sky were starting some new tv equipment maintenance contract, I might like to participate in;
I do have sky just for fibre BB.

Sound like Sky Protect which is a bit of a scam, as Sky own the equipment and the responsibility resides with them to fix any issues. Sky Protect is not Sky.

My girlfriend has stream its really bad , not worth the money
Is it true new Sky Q boxes to be announced by sky ? seen a few posts on social media ?
Not true. Sky Q was designed and built under the previous Sky administration. Since Comcast took over it's all about Glass and Stream which are their babies. Sky Q and the whole satellite service will be retired completely in the next few years and they won't be producing any new hardware to support it.
