Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

Just tried that watch face and my battery dropped 30% in 2 hours. Not sure what it's doing but it's murdering my battery. Maybe it's the weather and phone battery status icons or something causing lots of traffic between phone and watch.

No such issues on my GWR.

E: Just seen your using wear mini launcher, That is a battery drainer, try uninstalling it. :)

Had my Gear Live since release day and I am still wearing it every day ...... The last few updates have improved the operation and battery life just not sure how much life is in a watch like this yet but only time will tell :)

This, Wear Mini Launcher doesn't seem to play nicely with 5.0. Using the same watchface on my GWR and have had no problems here.

I did, the night before I installed the watch face.
I returned the face to default and now my battery life is as it was. I'll try it again tomorrow.

The battery drain I get since the last update is getting silly now.
Using a stock watchface, uninstalled wear launcher and still it drops 35% in 6 hours overnight! The battery stats part of the wear app is next to use less as it never shows anything but the watches system processes, never installed apps.

Any ideas?

Try a reset.
My watch used 9% from 1am till 9am when i was asleep on latest update.

It was a lot better throughout the day yesterday after i removed wear launcher, but still dropped 30% in 6-7 hours overnight.
Just done a reset on it and charging it back to 100%, lets see how it does.

One thing i've noticed is the reset procedure is improved.
Before the AW app would get its knickers in a twist, now it automatically detects the reset, auto-asks for repairing, AND remembers all the settings. :)

Anyone else having an issue with "ok google" being offline I presume after the phone sleeps. WIFI is set to be always on as is background data

phone is xperia Z2 on 4.4.4
watch is GWr on 5.0.1

The watch is still connected to the phone and does not have the struck out cloud on the watch face.

So far I have reset the watch and re-installed wear. its quite an annoying issue as if I had wanted to get my phone out to send a text I would have GRR.

other than that battery is doing great

This is with screen always on brightness 1 The Hundreds watch face and what i would consider a normal amount of usage.

Sorry, long thread, haven't read it all...

I'm really tempted by a smartwatch but can't decide what to get.
I'm currently considering the Pebble (not the steel, the cheaper one), LG G Watch and Sony SmartWatch 2.

Pebble gets good reviews but I'd prefer a touchscreen, so not really sure about this one.
The Sony is cheaper, but I know they've released the SmartWatch 3, so will it be losing support?

So which is my best bet, LG G Watch or Sony Smartwatch 2?

Or is there a better option?

To be honest all 3 are more expensive than I was initially hoping for.

How do I get rid of the "go to work " card permanently ?. I'm self employed & don't have a set workplace .

When it appears, do not swipe it away. Instead, go to the Google app on the phone, press the menu button and it will ask if you want to keep receiving work cards. Another way is to go to the Google Now settings and set the work address as your home address. I have the same problem here and it's stupid you can't remove it.

Sony SmartWatch 2 is not Android Wear so you'll be limited in terms of apps. If I remember the screen on it is pretty poor as well.

Looking at Clove it seems the G Watch is the cheapest Wear device so could go for that, but it's pretty basic compared to the newer offerings.
