Smartwatch Thread (news/apps/updates)

The Moto 360 v2 seems to be pretty close according to the various leaks/spy shots. I assume it'll have a newer chipset so instantly better performance and better battery life. Although the latest updates have improved the performance massively, it does suffer with some poor battery life compared to the other watches (due to the old chipset used)

Unless the 360 is sub £120, I would hold out for the v2.

This tells you everything you need to know about SBE.

Wish I'd seen that before. Would have asked for an advanced replacement and taken the £200 hold on the credit card.

Why is this company still around? They also have a habit of not repairing phones with the simple excuse of "water damage".

So after the wifi update for my R honestly I have not noticed any advantages with it compared to bluetooth apart from the better range around the home. I'm also wondering if they need to be on the same wifi connection, or just need to be on the same network, I've set my phone to only connect to the 5GHz network but the watch is only compatible with the 2.4GHz network.

Definately looks good, might tempt me to finally get a smart watch, I don't really know enough about the original 360 to know if its worth going for the new model which seems to be about double price.

I quite like the new 360, the lugs make it look so much more like a watch.

Hmmm, new 360 and either the Z5 or new Moto X....

The moto 360 is down to £120 on the rainforest, guessing the new one will be at least double the price but not sure if it will be twice as good.

Was thinking of getting a smart watch for my nexus 6 but not sure if I need it. I mean I've got Bluetooth headset for calls when I'm working or in the car. The battery life is good enough on the nexus 6 so I don't mind using it as much as I need to.

Is there anything I'm missing?

For me there are many times I get a notification, but I shouldn't really be pulling my phone out (at work or in a meeting, sometimes riding my motorbike) and it's so easy to take a quick glance to see what it is.

I find my watch essential I work in a very noisy factory and I'm also a carer so not missing notifications is awesome.
I like having the directions sent through while driving as well without devices the windscreen.

I agree hold for the new Moto 360 v2 as it looks great, well in fact it looks more like a normal watch. This is the way I think the styling will go for a lot of the smart watches !

Anyone got a Sony Smart Watch 3? If so what are your thoughts on it?

I prefer it to the LG G watch R I had before.

Battery life is decent most of the time.

Fits my smaller wrists better than the LG.

I personally don't like the round watches, easier to read text on the square.

Screen is not as nice but perfectly OK.

Strap and clasp are comfy.

USB port for charging is a major bonus for me, remembering to grab the cradle for the LG was a pain. Now I can plug into anything anywhere and it charges quick.

So I've just gone and discovered a watch face that looks like the LCARS computer interface used in Star Trek. That's me right there, nerding out to the max. Literally could not be happier right now lol

Recently considered selling my LG G watch R as I was starting to get bored with it. Instead I noticed a dead pixel and got a full refund from Amazon.

The main failing for me was the lack of ambient light sensor. I never have to faff with my Apple Watch because I can't see the screen or its conspicuously bright. Because if this I think I'll wait for the next generation of Android wear. Don't know about anything in the pipeline though?
