So, anyone got an iRobot Roomba or other robot vacuum cleaner?

I got rid of my D7 because it was just woeful, they've fallen from grace recently and their NPD lacks severely versus the competition. Having a D shape bot is useless if the software doesn't tell it to approach perpendicular to corners.

Hi everyone! I just bought a robot vacuum so I thought I would share my experience.
I decided to buy one because I have two cats at home and it's annoying to have to pass the hoover every 2 days. I did a lot of research online, because it's my first robot I didn't want something really expensive but it had to be self emptying. I went for the T10 elite from Ultenic. I paid 330£. I had some issue at the beginning because I didn't let the robot finish the auto mod. First time it has to clean the whole flat before you get the map created properly. It clean very well, I have hard floor so it is easy for the robot the get all the stuff. I have contacted the customer service as well because I found that the battery is draining fast so they are sending me a battery replacement just in case this one is faulty. That is a great service. Was not expecting that for the price I paid. Pretty sure there are better robot out there but I guess it all depend on what you need it for and obviously your budget. But it's bargain for this this price.

I’ve been looking at the roborock Q7 max. We will still hoover properly once a week so want something that will deal with dirt from children. All the floors are tile/wood so hopefully should suit the cleaners well. Is there a significant upgrade to the S7 range? We really want a docking station as a big part of it is the ease of use.

I could not see the info on the S7 ( found only s7max), but the Q7 Max seems really good. It's got a really good battery and suction is really good as well. The app looks like it does a 3d of the room which is quite interesting. It is priced at 585£ so not first price band but seems worse it.

Great thank you. It is on offer on Amazon for 359 with base station, so seems a good deal.

Still loving my Roborock Q Revo and I will never again have another robot without a full mopping and mop cleaning function. It's amazing how much effort it saves!

The q Revo looks really good for mopping indeed with the two circular brush. I took a robot mainly for hoover, I didn't want any mopping function to be honest but nowadays they all have it. I've tried it briefly on mine, it does an ok job but I prefer to pass the mop myself.

A Q Revo does a much better job than a hoover with "passive mop" function. The spinner mops really do a fantastic job and when you run it 3x times a week your floor will be gleaming. It's a huge time saver.

Wife won a Samsung Jet Bot AI+ Robot Vacuum Cleaner from work, just waiting on it being delivered :)

Unfortunately I own one and they're useless. The soft brush is good on hard floor, useless on carpet even when forcing max suction mode. I don't even have deep pile carpets either, more medium.

I seen that Dyson have brought out a robot. Looks amazing on the YouTube videos.

Anyone actually used one?

So I find the new Dyson interesting, but flawed.

It's interesting because of the suction power they're claiming with two times the suction of any other robot vacuum cleaner. The cleaning power does seem incredible from the reviews I've seen, but another reviewer said you're lucky to get 17 odd minutes before it needs to go back to the dock to charge.

It's an eye opener as to the real power of robot vacuum cleaners, they're clearly not very powerful despite the claims but the theory has been that they don't need to be as powerful. Being a bot, you should be running them more frequently than manually vacuuming.

The other area I think it's flawed is how behind the curve it is versus the competition in other areas. For £1,200 (which I think is the GBP rate?), I would expect an auto empty dock and better navigation ability. It uses VSLAM but bots at high price points use a combo of LIDAR and visual for object avoidance, the Dyson can't do object detection/avoidance.

I know I am likely wasting my e-breath here, but they have multiple robot models and all you said was "they have brought out a robot" which could have been referring to any of the models you had seen. But sure... "thanks" for the link.

As for the robot, it looks like typical Dyson overpriced crap. £1200 with no cleaning station or mopping function? What a joke.

Seems a bit of an overreaction to state they’re useless if it’s good on a hard floor. Fortunately, we have mostly hard flooring so that’s good to know.

Considering we’re getting it for free I’m not too fussed anyway. If I’d won it myself I’d have probably just sold it on though.

Ah, my bad. That is on me fair enough. I was on their site and it had it as ‘new’ under the main titled. Just blindly assumed it was new.

Same budget, what would everyone go for instead if the dyson is crap?
