Seriously thinking about Pre-ordering. I'll be upgrading my current rig of 2500k @ 4.1Ghz. Should be a worth while upgrade. The more I read and watch on these processors, the more I like!

I'm thinking of a 1700 but unsure on what MB..

I'm in the same boat I've a 2700K and was thinking of the 1700 too...or should i go 1800x its video editing and encoding, need the right motherboard.

Yeah I'm sure some people are going to bin their current ram to spend maybe 1.5 to 2x more just for a couple of % increase in performance..

My RAM is now 280% more expensive. £74.99 for 2x16gb to £199.99 (usually £209.99) So nope will be keeping this RAM for a bit.

I've ordered from you

1700x
Rog Crosshair
32Gigs 3000mhz ram (2 sticks) corsair Dominator
H110i cooler, it said it had AM4 socket support on the buy page i hope i get this boxed version :)
Thermal Grizzly Kryonaut High Performance Thermal Paste - 5.5g / 1.5 ml

respect guys hoping it will ship on the 2nd!

Bit more thinking on it and I now think it makes more sense to spend 100 more on a mobo and 100 less on the CPU if AMD are keeping the AM4 socket for a couple of generations. Get the 1700X now, overclock it as best I can then get a Zen2/3 if they are worth it like I used to back in the 939 and Phenom era (I just found my old Phenom board with ram and CPU in it while digging around for my AM3 bracket for my H105).

Thinking the crosshair will be the way to go so I can use my H105 with or with out the AM4 bracket if corsair ever get around to making one (plus I can 3D print pointless things for it cos why not), keep the board till I rebuild from scratch again in 4/5 years and just upgrade the cpu.

SO this is my basket now.

My basket at Overclockers UK:

Total: £1,002.92
(includes shipping: £0.00)

Yeah, sure. Gibbo, who actually has the stuff, and tested it. And sells us it. I'm sure he is just thinking with his money (potential sales) when he says there is no point in forking out for more expensive, faster RAM.
he's a merchant so...
best to think with your own brain, although I haven't checked prices/specs and don't know bang for buck ratio myself. A couple of pounds would be reasonable but issue is most people here just want the very best and will pay for bells and whistles.

He's a merchant so... Presumably he'd be most interest in selling the most expensive, fastest stuff he has to increase turnover, if he was that way inclined. Instead though, he suggests that there is little point, at least for now, to go for that faster stuff, unless you are planning to underclock it with tighter timings. As it isn't really compatible. So he is letting customers know that they don't need to spend as much. From the only person on here (or almost anywhere really) that has said anything worthwhile, and has confirmed he has the products in hand.

So your assertion that Ryzen loves RAM speed comes from where exactly?

So the payment for my Ryzen order went through, and instead of using the payment method I specified it used my bank card and put my account to -£250 lol, as if I needed another reason to hate th enew OCUK webstore XD

Yeah it's really bad. I checked out with PayPal and it didn't even ask for password LOL no window popping up asking for funding source either. Had to cancel order so I can put through on business account.

Even though i have a 5820k, which looks like it was the smart choice at the time, i am still following Ryzen.. looking forward to proper benchmarks and see how they perform in all manner of tests, doubt i will switch but who knows. Looks like it will have a good future for upgrades though.
