Is it only me or does pre ordering not seem slightly crazy considering if all the rumours are true, there's going to be quite a lot of competatitive repricing and restructuring between Intel and AMD in the next few months.

IMO there is every chance AMD will drop the price even lower once launched, just to stick an extra two fingers up at Intel.

Equally, prices could go up initially if demand is high.

How do I know if it's compatible?

Google to see if the manufacture has mentioned anything about it already supporting AM4 or if they plan on making any brackets for it. Some already have and some are being a bit cagy at the moment.

If its an older cooler you have, ask the manufacturer if they can supply you AM4 fitting brackets as necessary.
If they say no, you need a new cooler!

1700 now as i know it will overclock to 4ghz which is thanks to gibbo.

I think 1700x and 1800x will have less overclocking headroom as compared with the 1700.

I just checked and my h80i fittings are ok, you need the bracket with the two square eyes that fit over the plastic hooks

If it works the way it used to then you have already had the money taken so if you cancel then you will have to wait for the money to go back to your bank account.

Most the damage has been done honestly. The bulk of any loss would have come from the referendum itself, and the uncertainty of when A50 would be invoked.
