Solar panels and battery - any real world reccomendations?

I'm hoping that this price cap stuff ofgem does will eventually also take into account a minimum price paid on SEG.

The current delta is crazy, it doesn't make sense to invest in solar at all unless you use a lot of electric or can store a lot for use in batteries.

People who over-produce and help the grid out with exports are being screwed over.
Agreed. I mean for us it's a no brainer. Electric shower, immersion heater, hobs, family of 4 etc... Batteries make sense for us regardless.

At the moment solar without batteries means you are being shafted IMO because when you over produce you get very little in return.

Agreed. I want them to make it more attractive for me to go solar only without needing to waste money on batteries. I can then go 8-10kwh solar only once demand slows down a little.

Project solar have finally stated £325 to come out and fix includes everything, even if they need scaffolding.
My only concern is the guy who comes out says nothing is wrong and they just walk off with my money....then all the hassle to sort that.
Plus there's no Tigos in stock till Jan! Doh
Any time I see someone posting a quote from Project Solar on the solar Facebook group I’m on, there’s a flurry of replies telling them to avoid.

But moving supplier just for that isn't that easy at the moment.

It was actually dead simple to switch. I called them on the number the website gave, put down some details, and then it was all handled a few days later.

They didn't want to switch me originally to just variable tariff, but if you say you want a smart one, they'll move you. I think the new rules might mean they aren't just losing money on variable customers anymore as well.

Even if I'm with a different supplier? I mean I've only just entered into an SEG contract. But my main supplier (Ovo) at the moment seems.

Hi all - great day of solar today - pushing 35kws - one oddity is this strange vertical jump in my batteries around 15:00.
Has anyone seen something like this before? It's like it instantly charged from 80% to 100%, which obviously isn't possible.

Thanks for any tips in advance!

Firmware bug with the battery BMS potentially, Giv have been having issues with batteries/software recently.

Hmm, is that something I should report or is it just a software thing they can fix in due course? (ie if this was a motherboard would I be RMAing or waiting for a firmware patch?? ;) )

By definition you have to be with a different supplier to switch, right?

Very nice, today was more like a 10kwh day, the weather was generally a bit meh, in fact I can't say I've had an amazing clear day the whole time my system has been running.

It's cloudy, sunny, cloudy, sunny etc.

Can see from my generation stats today that the afternoon was incredibly weak. I'd like just a clear sky and sun for a bit so I can check I get more consistent figures, because every day it's been like this with big ups and downs on generation.

We tend to get a lot of cloudy days here. Although you pay attention way more to the days weather once you get solar and can see the difference in generation.

Today was pretty good considering the past drab week. Between 11-12 was cloud and same for 1-3pm. Otherwise it would have been a fab day all in.

I don't think I had more than 5-10 mins of sun at a time, and most of the best generation time for me (12:00 - 16:00) was just junk.

Still did 10kwh which is fine, nice if it does a few more though :)

You should contact them via support (phone or e-mail) and they will advise you if you require any updates etc. I had a similar issue which was fixed with an update to the firmware, but they took a while to fix it. Sadly due to the huge demand and limited staff the support is pretty slow at best.
