Solar panels and battery - any real world reccomendations?

Finally can put the washing machine and dishwasher on today... phew! :D

Washing machine is on, but trying to avoid dishwasher at the mo, hence running war in the house as its GOT TO GO ON NOW111!!!!1 lolz

To which I informed her (lit blue touch paper) if she packed it properly there would be enough room to fit everything in, but ended up tight as she had put things on top of others (no idea why she cant get that they wont wash), but I got them all in, where they would all wash as well
TBH I will probably relent, what I really want to do is get the usage in the 5:30pm range where it would be relevant for an Octopus savings session (cant tell her that she will object)

Unless solar is high battery will drain today anyway so I am trying to go on grid in the window that is relevant for savings sessions on those days, little bit of tweaking going on in the app trying to get what I want to happen

My mrs couldn't wait for the sun any longer and just putting the washing machine on.....i got the shakes

Nice and sunny today, I took a peak outside to see how the generation was going, my south facing panels are doing nicely at about 1.5kw (2.2kw string) but my west facing ones are only pulling in 650w (2.6kw string) so combined around 2kw import.

I can't see any shading on any of them, I think it's just facing to where the sun is and the lower strength of the sun this time of year, the west facing ones should pick up a bit later on but hit shading/end of day before they can really ramp up.

It's kind of remarkable how good the south facing string is doing in comparison, and if all my panels were on that same plane it would lead to even a day like today being fairly decent.

New system finally up and running as of yesterday (16 panels @ 390w each, connected to a 6kW hybrid inverter with a 3.6kWh battery). Generated 2kWh so far (near Reading), which is pretty good for this time of year reading the thread?

Depends, if it's been sunny all morning not so good.

I'm at 4.4kwh generated today apparently but it's been nice and sunny since 11:00 or so, so makes sense with a couple of hours at 2kw generation.

If it's bright but not sunny they can still do something, but direct sunlight is what drives most of the generation now.

A 6kW inverter sounds large. Does that mean you could pull 6kW out of the battery?

Think Wales is in for replacing Kent as top sun spot for the end of 2022...
Blue sky here, with the odd cloud :p
Any hints on finding the team on PV Output?

Once your logged in, select teams, just under the search box is a filter button, press that, then just enter ocuk in there.

You would generally size inverter to be at or a bit under panel capacity more than anything.

Ah okay, thanks. I've seen people mention a 3.6kW or 5kW inverter, but never a 6kW. There's much to learn :)

Octopus Energy are phoning me tomorrow about their solar offering. I haven't had a chance to research if other people have found them to be competitive.

No harm in finding out, I wouldn't expect much though necessarily because they'll be outsourcing this component to a 3rd party I reckon.
