Solar panels and battery - any real world reccomendations?

I just got an online quote with octopus.

12 panels all fitted for 7k with 1k discount if you place an order before end of month. That's without a battery.

Does this sound a good deal?

Na I wouldn't do that, unless you are very very competent. (Installing yourself).

If you go with a separate installer doubt you will any form of aftercare..

You will lose out on the warranty, security, safety and after support. Not to mention the exporting going wrong, etc, you don't want to mess with the mains even if you are a certified sparky and not worked on PV

They showed me the power coming out of the strings by touching both ends together briefly, it gave out a large flame

That will be me (and a few others on here), but I still use an electrician for certain aspects.

That's called a plasma arc.
