Something went wrong, ordered a Mustang, yet ended up in a British hotrod, I blame OcUK!

It’s weird rain mode works well in the wet :p

My point is even on Jaguar site, manual and various forums just say it effects the usual, throttle sensitivity, traction control intervention but there was nothing concrete if it was effecting the power split on the AWD models and as such though I was pretty sure it was from driving the car it is nice to have it confirmed that the mode does adjust the AWD split on the AWD models.

Gives the car a nice versatile nature, you can either do skids and get the tail out and then let the AWD collect it up and straighten the car, or just lock the diffs as close to 50/50 as possible to keep it tidier and make better progress. :)

Is snow mode better in the snow too ?

Sarcastic git, snow/wet/ice mode all same mode. :p

Just reading manual now. E-diff run in:

During the first 8 000 km of driving, do not exceed vehicle speeds of 250 km/h (155 mph).

Rain and snow like you says little only:

The rain/ice/snow driving mode helps the vehicle to perform in a gentle and controlled manner to improve traction on slippery surfaces. Progress in adverse driving conditions may also be improved.

Hi there

When I collected the car it had the typical pre-inspection, I asked about alignment and the response was alignment is not checked on new or used cars unless there is uneven tyre wear which the car does not have, which was fair enough response.
However people here will know I look after my cars and as such I had the alignment checked today at a local Jaguar Specialist,

As you know these cars far better than anyone else here and as the specialist checking the alignment was just checking and from my limited knowledge I requested for camber front and rear they kept the car close to the Jaguar nominal figure.

I’ve got the 18MY settings. Be surprised if the SVR changed then.

0.13 decimal degrees toe on the front. Total is 0.25 nominal +/-0.1
0.12 rear, which is less than the AWD and RWD normal ones.

(Where yours was before changed?)
Front calls for -0.84 camber, -1.35 rear.

Hope this helps??!?

New Mustang is nice Gibbo... Orange Fury 10 speed GT

Colour looks brilliant in the sun :)

Got yours buddy?
They are indeed lovely looking cars, post some pictures up mate or make a new thread because lets face it Ford have nailed it as the Mustang has no real competition any more being one of the very last RWD, V8 NA, Manual cars available and around 40k, bargain of century for 450HP and around 4s to 60 in what is a stunning looking and sounding car which drive very nice.

You should try the mag ride, normal, sport and track, its a fantastic system on them as is the very high-end DSC system found on GT 350 and other very expensive cars.
Oh and I know you can't give it death, but stick it in drag mode and just change gears, supposed to be really punchy. :D

Its a far more complete rounded car than 15-17's though mag ride is a real must have, new manual supposed to be a big improvement too.

Put the car on Litchfields dyno today, very happy with the result. :)

SVRdyno.jpg

Shows pretty much what I feel on the road, this car has instant acceleration and pulls hard from as low as 1000rpm and that pull is maintained all the way to 6500rpm in a linear fashion. :)

Big numbers that mate, proper power.

When I get my new gearbox in, due this coming week, we should see how they compare.

Impressive! Just a wall of thrust anywhere.

Guess that’s the old power station rolling road?

Powerstation was an LPS3000 Maha twin contact patch dyno, hence people complaining over low wheel power figures, low torque and issues putting power down as car lifting out rollers.

Litchfield have the more modern MSR500 Maha single contact patch AWD dyno, hence the wheel power being more where you would expect it and more accurate torque figure and no issues with cars trying to lift out the rollers. Hence they can get on the power early and keep it flat so that even powerful cars can get a nice graph. This is kind of dyno Mac needs run his Mustang on as it will just run no drama.

Yeah very happy with it playing with Kindai today on way back both cars at WOT there is nothing in it upto around triple digits, on roads no point going faster, but of course his car is quicker well into the 100's but should be as it does have some additional power. Come anytime mate as I am in the car pretty much daily as its just such a good car and more importantly it does not feel fragile, just use it, drive it hard and enjoy. Fingers crossed it stays that way and I have no issues. :)

Talking of which, wtf happened when we pulled onto the motorway, one moment you were right with me, the next theres a GTR in between us :D I'm guessing you 2 made it most of the way back together.

Loved the little flyby as I pulled off also ;) You hoon. Hope you enjoyed the day mate, would probably of been nicer if they got you on earlier / didnt have a break between the main bunch and the final 2 cars, but oh well, probably worth it for the price you paid as normally it would be £100+ for a private run.

Love the car gibbo..can't help but think that the mustang gets more fans though.

Mustang will always get more fans, Jaguar are a forgotten brand, the F-Type really a rare site and an SVR silly rare. However this does make ownership nice and doing the 200+ mile round trip today the amount of people on the motorway passing with their cameras out and looking at the car is like how Mustang was. Difference is I hear kids going "wow check that out" and then "what is it" many have no idea what it is. Maybe Jaguar need to market car better but after Top Gear it may improve.

F-Type is young car, it has not gained the following or success E-Type had and of course Mustang is an even far greater icon. In all fairness hardly no car on the road can compare with the presence of a Mustang and the positive good vibe they create in other motorist, they really are in their own league, hence why you see them at super car meets and they don't look out of place at all, though they will be worth around 10x less than some of the other cars they are keeping company with.

Mustang is a hero, a legend and an icon, its hard to compete with.
SVR is a British hotrod, its super rare and insanely good at what it does and such an easy car to live with in all weather. I really love it, got charm and presence of the Mustang, sounds hilarious but it goes like a stink pretty much nothing can live with it in the 0-130 region, the way it accelerates in the real world in poor conditions is just uncanny but the car feels totally alive to drive and very RWD biased.

Housey's R8 will corner better, will corner faster but has to be driven quite fast to feel challenged. The SVR has an edginess built in the chassis that makes it feel pointy but also alive at speeds well below the limits. Jaaaag did great to get that playfulness into the chassis and if you speak to Dale Lomas the ring taxi driver who has driven all the super cars flat out round the ring, he really likes the SVR.

I did not go for the gap and joined at a more legal speed. ;)
Yeah their facility is insanely impressive, has to be one of the UK's best garages and the dyno room cooling is very impressive as it also keeps the underside of car cool so less chance of damaged cats and of course ECU killing power by going into cat protection mode.

Yea, people wonder why I rave about the place so much, but once you've been, its hard to see how you can't. All the staff are always friendly and approachable also, people there for the love of the job, not just because its a job.

Did you experience opening the door while the extraction fans were on, its incredible how much air they suck out. Certainly better than sticking a giant fan trying to blow air over the car :D

Yes, very hard to open the door but that cooling setup is good but those guys spend hours tuning and mapping cars so its good they got a safe environment to do that in.
