Sony Bravia KDL 50 W829

Yeh at 899 but JL said they'd price match Curry's...

If you are getting the 50" W829 with a Soundbar for £799 price matched by Curry's, I'd take that and sell the Soundbar (or keep it) for £90-100 and you'd have only spent £700 on a £900 TV.

Easier said than done re: selling the soundbar. Have you seen eBay since this special has been on? Hundreds of the things which means they aren't really selling and those that do are for sub £50 mostly.

The soundbar will do until I can decide:

A) What x.1 system I want.
B) How much I'm willing to spend.
C) What brand etc to get.

yeah i am keeping the soundbar, was gonna replace with a 5.1 but happy with it, i have a small front room and little kids love pulling my speaker wires out :D

How much of an improvement is the SB over the built in speakers? And have you compared bluetooth to optical wired?

Yeh I can see the appeal of no wires in that instance!

Yes the sound bar is much better than the internal speaker, which to be fair is not bad for a TV. Watching footy in footy mode gives a lovely sound.

Yes agreeded the Bluetooth sound is not fantastic. I only tested it once with my phone which I connected using NFC which was rather cool.

Let's not beat around the bush its not top end but suits me perfectly, and was not much ball ache swapping my 5.1 for this.

I have a PC linked to the TV and watching films also sounds great.

That looks really good, I like the fact you've had to case the wires up to the TV! Thinking about hooking my Raspberry Pi up to the TV when I get it, or a NAS.

yeah everything has to be looked down lol :) Raspberry Pi would be great, my old man has done that, i have that wee pc so no need for me at the min, but must get mine out again soon.

Mine came today and once I'd figured out how to attach the stand (:o) it actually looks pretty smart! The interface seems a bit sluggish but hopefully I'll get the hang of it. Not managed to get Amazon Instant Video working yet which is a shame but iPlayer works perfectly :)

The soundbar is much better now I've wired it up instead of using Bluetooth. I'll definitely stick with it for this TV.

I also won a PS4 :D

Amazon Instant is meant to coming sometime in July. I think there is a page on Amazon you can sign up to get the alert when its ready.

I've had a bit of a poke around on their site but don't seem able to find the page you mention. If you happen to come across it, I'd appreciate it if you could post a link on here - thanks a lot :)

Watched a couple of shows last night and the picture quality is pretty good, though at times I felt the blacks were still a little grey compared to my plasma screen. I might try reducing the backlight level a bit.

I found motion to be really good, though, with no blurriness / smearing that I could notice. I'm also pleasantly surprised by the soundbar now I've got it set up properly - it sounds way better than a freebie has any right to! :D

Bloody JL sent the silver one. Rage.

Looks like we're getting two sound bars out of it though lol. Just needs to get here before the 13th - PS4 compo damnit!

Unlucky, though I specifically chose the silver one as I thought it was more interesting than black.

I believe the PS4 competition is based on purchase date. You have until something like 13th August to enter so you'll be fine :)

Sony lost my paper work for the ps4 and called me from France to say sorry. 5 weeks from when I entered and Wob. Had to scan and email it over. Should get the ps4 in 2 weeks grrr

I have sent my claim in for the PS4 today by 1st class recorded.

Does anyone know how long this will take approximately? Do they have to verify your purchase with the retailer?
