Sony Bravia KDL 50 W829

Does anyone know if you can turn off the power led when the tv is on? Went to test one today and it was right in your face and was even pulsing which I assume is when it's streaming from USB or network source.

Well I went over and got one this morning and it's fantastic. Got the £779 deal with the free sound kit but the sound bar wasn't in stock and they are delivering. Didn't win a ps4 tho but still stunning tv for a stunning price.

Can I get it to play from network shares or is it all done by upnp?

Even 720p br rips look incredible and the vivid picture mode makes scifi films look mindblowing!

Any app recommendations.

not used any apps or features as have a pc hooked up. but be interested to know what good ones are out there.

My dad got the 55" version this week. Really impressed with it, picture is very good. It also looks so much nicer than the old Panny plasma it replaced.

Funny thing is that it is actually about 10mm smaller (across the top) than my 46" Sharp!

It looks as if the way to share media is using something like PS3 media server/ Universal Media Server or sharing in windows. Not got that setup so will have to sort.

You wont be disappointed :)

I am thinking about matching the TV with a 3D Blu Ray player. I have a PS4 but would rather have standalone. I have seen the Sony BDP-S4200 Smart 3D Blu-ray Player on offer at a couple of places. Does this TV and BR Player go together well?

Apparently, according to a bloke in the shop who had the same TV you actually DONT need and adapter kit to convert it to wall mount. You use the supplied brackets that fix the stand to the TV in some way to create a VESA mount. I think I can see how you do it but not had chance to search for it yet.

Yup just done a quick search on the Sony website and it states VESA compatibility so should have no issues fitting to a VESA wall bracket without any extra adapters..

Hmm interesting. I'd use the stand, but it doesn't sit close enough to the wall for my liking so the above was my next option.

I'll have a read up too. Cheers. :)

The stand (little wire one) fixes to the tv with 2 black metal brackets that you fit to the stand then slide them into the holes on the TV and use the provided screws to secure. By the look of it you use them along with another part that comes with the TV to convert from the stock config to wall mountable... I think.. :/

This is what it says from the Sony Website:

Remote Control RM-ED060 (Europe) / RM-ED058 (UK & Ireland) / RM-YD099 (Brazil)
3D Glasses (TDG-500P x2pcs)
Batteries (R03)
AC Power Cord
Screws
Table Top Stand / Wall Mount Bracket (separate, assembly required)
Operating Instructions
Quick Setup Guide / Supplement CUE (GA)

Edit no 2!

It looks as if you use the stand/mount as a wallmount bracket!

I know this if for the W6 but should be same principle. http://shmups.system11.org/viewtopic.php?f=6&t=48662

I bet its in the manual that I havnt not read yet.. :p

I ended up buying the vesa adapter from the Sony store due to me wanting to use our existing wall mount bracket (it was wallpapered round). It was pretty expensive at £40 and makes the tv stand out a wee it prouder that I would like but it does the job. I would have preferred to use the stand mount though. One good thing is that it is a hollow box allowing you to stash the PSU and the excess cables in it.

same as this one: http://www.appliancesdirect.co.uk/p/suwa1/sony-suwa1-tv-bracket

Funnily enough that's where I bought my TV from..

I did notice that the cable from the adapter to the tv is pretty short. Don't get me started on the silly one that goes from the socket to the adapter.
