Sony Xperia 1 II - A return to form for Sony?

I cant tell the dif on my phone, tried 60, 90 and 120Hz and all seems the same.

I'm also a bit nervous going from 6000 battery to 4000mah

I've got a honor View 20 at moment. But it's the 8gb ram version and that's 4000mah and it's perfectly fine in lasting and speed wise, so I'm sure the Sony will also be fine.

I was planning to buy a camera, but the fact it seems I can do away with one and just use this has ticked a huge box. Also I need a new pair of headphones so another bonus haha.

Only thing I don't like is the 36 month contract but maybe that's the norm now when previously has always been 24 months for me.

Anyway, taken a gamble and have ordered it.

Going to preorder. £760 down and £31.60 a month for 24 months. My firm pays £15 a month towards my mobile bill. Can get topcashback on o2 aswell £50 on a £30 a month contract if done in the next 3 days.
Niece will get the headphones as a birthday present.

Think I'm going to do £500 down and 24 month, 30gig, not sure if 15gig will be enough and its only a couple of quid more a month.
Headphones will be for me, lol. Would have liked the buds as I have some Sony over ears already. Guess I could sell the over ears to fund buds.

Am I reading that right? £760 upfront AND a £31.60 monthly? £500 up front on I assume a similar or higher monthly??
Sorry thats on a 60gb a month data plan. Go on O2 and you can play around with how much you want to pay upfront and length of contract aswell as data per month amounts.

Total contract price offer the term works out around the price of it sim only £1099, once you take the cost of the headphones off.
So your getting all your data for free too, in a way.

Very tempted by the o2 offer. Pay it off as soon as you get it and it's yours for £800 or so. I have the M1's so can give them to the missus and keep the M3's upgrade...

Ordered
£780 upfront
3 month contract @ £31 - pay that off as soon as the headphones arrive.
Free headphones that I will sell as I already have them
50 quid back via topcashback - bargain!

I really wanted the purple one, but the O2 pricing was too good to pass up on and I couldn't see an equivalent to O2 refresh on Vodafones site

Pretty happy to be honest

Never really got the refresh on such a small screen though. I've compared 60 and 120 on phones and can't tell any difference what so ever.

Use a phone with 120 for a week and go back. Night and day.

I could tell the difference in smoothness as soon as I swapped from a Pixel 3 and I thought that was pretty smooth as is.

Still seems mental to me.

For reference in June 2019 (around release of Xperia 1) I secured the following deal from Vodafone:
Xperia 1 with "free" PS4 Spiderman bundle.
Unlimited calls/SMS as usual.
50GB data.
Up front: £99 (might have been £129, but doesn't really matter, see below)
£38/month.

The upfront ended up being waived due to issues with the order fulfillment, but we got there in the end. So that's a total cost of £912 for the contract period. Even if the upfront charge was not waived its very reasonable. The monthly is low because of the loyalty discount on my account, so this deal was not advertised on their website or in store, I had to negotiate it. Still, shows there is some value in staying with the same provider on "full fat" contracts vs bouncing around each year going for whatever the best advertised deal is.

Yea - got on the Twitter app for example and its a massive difference in scrolling smoothness. Biggest concern is the 60hz on this (depends on how the software solution Sony has included works)

Referring to the person I quoted, who said in a previous post:

Currently use a unlimited 3 sim and signal is not that strong at my work place so was looking to change. On reflection I have preordered with the cheapest 3 month contract. £760 down with £50 cash back.
