Sony Xperia 1 II - A return to form for Sony?

Seems a decent phone, but it doesn’t offer ANYTHING groundbreaking. It’s just kind of, average. They quote a 4K screen, but it isn’t. It’s slightly higher res than 2560x1440 with a 21:9 aspect ratio.

Yet it’s >£1000?

Makes it an automatic no from me.

We know already isn’t not going to compete on the camera department. Sony simply refuse to spend any time on computation photography.

Again, seems good, at £799 it would be appealing, but not at £1K

1k?

That's a no. Don't even need to read anymore.
5x the cost of my s7 Edge

1k for a phone is a price point I'll never go to.
That's over a month of mortgage payment.

Dissapointed you can't just get a phone with a great camera but none of the 5g, super high res screens etc etc

Can understand where you are coming from but this Phone seems to be aimed at people who are into Photoghraphy and / or Video and probably have sony alpha cameras and want something they can always carry for the times they are without their bigger bulkier camera setup.
I will buy it as it is IP rated and has front facing stereo. A good screen and a very capable camera system if you like to manualy adjust settings.
Yes I would like it to be a bit cheaper but seeing as my nieces birthday soon and she wants some wireless earbuds then I can gift those on if they bundle them with it in the uk. I was also looking at the Oneplus 8pro but I feel the Sony is more capable on the camera system.

It is expensive, but I do like it. Wonder if it will link to my a99ii
Was considering a OnePlus 8 Pro. Just not sure.....

4th June preorder date, ships from 18th June at £1099 sim free cost.

Preorder bonus looks to be 1000XM3s and mirrored slate edition (purple) a Vodafone exclusive...

Haven't seen anything of substance but for o2, I think starts at £39.92 per month over three years with a £10 up-front cost.

That is actually very reasonable, if you dump the headphones for sale then phone can work out as little as £600.

Reading reviews though I'm not convinced they fixed the issues with proper HDR and high contrast situations. I still remember it being a pain on Xperia 1, HDR would only come on when it wanted to and got a lot of blown out skies in photos.

Still, latest Snapdragon handset with 5g (headphone jack too!) isn't bad at all if you fancy something different!

Never really got the refresh on such a small screen though. I've compared 60 and 120 on phones and can't tell any difference what so ever.

£799 with XM3s seems a great deal. Interested in the camera and near stock Android software and headphone jack. 60hz will be a bit jarring when scrolling through certain apps after being used to 120hz but I'm tempted to take a punt :)
