Spec me an LED Torch

Just back from trying the TN30 out and it certainly gives you the wow factor. This picture really doesnt do it justice, will have to try and get a decent shot that shows just how bright this thing is.

Gives you plenty of flood and a decent amount of throw.

First pic is a single XM-L the second the TN30.

You want some silicone gun grease now too to keep those orings and threads nicely lubed up!

I have seen it mentioned on an airgun forum (by multiple people) that I visit that silicone oil or grease should never be used on metal to metal contact areas as it can a accelerate wear. I'm not sure how much truth there is to it, but on the threads of my L2P that were bare aluminium I did notice a grey paste forming and the threads seemed to grind with the grease on the threads. I have just started using the grease on the o-ring only.

Why on my special edition HIII version only the threads between the head and body are anodised I don't know. Surely you change the Battery more than the drop-in and it would make much more sense to have the tail end threads anodised.

Deluxe1, That looks mega bright .

Not sure tbh but I've been using it for a while now after it was recommended here and had no problems really. I apply grease every 6 months to the rings/threads and no issues.

I don't have the skyray king, its a good budget light from all accounts tho. if it had a medium mode i would get one.

Been a while since i had the urge for a new light so just ordered this little 2000 lumen "monster" 3 x XM-L - 4 x 18650:

With 4 of these:

And a new charger:

Confused :D

Quick question for anyone who has read all 76 pages of this thread. Can anyone recomend me an LED torch that can easily be used as a cycle light? Needs to be very tough, have a bike mounting and have a half assed battery life, ie more than 1 hour on high beam. I'm looking to spend about £50 but will increase the budget if there is something for not much more than is significantly better.

Thanks in advance.

Dave

Thanks for the reply, just realised I missed off that I would prefer it to be self contained, ie no battery pack. I'm looking at the Lezyne Power Drive or the Hope Vision 1 on wiggle at the mo, can you get handlebar mounts for torches?

Cheers

Dave

Thanks for you help, a pd32 and bike mount will be on order soon (come new credit card month anyway!). It says they supply it with a battery, I'm guessing its a non re-chargeable one. Would it make sense to get the best one I can afford such as something like this, I take it I need to buy the funky charger as I'm guessing they won't charge properly in my energiser aa/aaa battery charger at home?
