Spec me Some Good Champagne

Just looking on their site, they have a great selection and Gosset Grande Reserve is only £46.70 from the look of it which is a pretty good price. Delamotte NV Blancs de Blancs is also only £40.

That place is cheaper than most wine shops up in Manchester, not sure how they manage it!

The Blanc de Blancs from Gosset is something very special but not many places stock it.

It's an incredible wine shop, and I don't know how they keep their prices competitive as it's in the heart of Mayfair. I'll pop along, and will probably end up buying both. Thanks.

Nice haul randomshenans!!

Hedonism is awesome. SQN room, Grange room and the hidden bit with a load of DRC and other bobbins. Some decent affordable bits too.

The prices are good because it's funded by an Oligarch :)

I took advantage of the 10% my waitrose card discount on the already discounted bollinger NV magnum yesterday. It was significantly cheaper than 2 standard bottles, and I've always been lead to believe that within reason, the bigger the bottle, the better the champagne.

What was the price? Tempted if that's still going..

Edit: OoS online!

The new NV Louis is really nice if you're looking for a nice bottle, but I'm a big Louis fan, so I'm biased. It's a lot less sharp than the previous white labeled batch they had out.

Well this kinda went down last night.

Although this wasn't including the other magnum and bottles we had in the fridge. My head hurts. We did pretty well though. Methuselah, Jeroboam and 2 Magnums went, along with like 10 normal size bottles including a nice 2000 Winston Churchill Pol Roger.

Head. Hurts. Ugh.

Sounds like a good night, but I'd still be smashed for 6 after that lot. The pick of the bunch?

Off to Hedonism wines this afternoon hoping to pick up something nice.

Yea, excuse the awful photography... pick of the bunch was easily the Winston.

But it would be really, it's a 140quid bottle compared to a mix of much for much, other than size.

2006 Moet Rosé was average, I'm really not a Moét fan. Even vintage is so so. A standard NV Pol Roger was again, much for much. Canard Duchêne got a bit too cold, but it was nicer than the Tatt. 6L of that got a bit much at the end. I don't think you'd have that with Louis.
Many crements too, which are really nice to be fair and a few other much for much Champagnes. Nothing mind blowing, other than the Churchill, which is a really very nice bottle.

Size was ridiculous though. Woman in the shop thought her Christmas had come early when we walked in.

@ molinari I want to see some bottles as a result of getting carried away! :p

Hedonism is such an amazing wine (and spirit) shop. I was tempted by a bottle of Cognac from the Courvoisier Erte collection, but the £11,000 price tag put me off slightly  (I'm sure there is wine there worth more than that).

They have a great selection of Champagne and sparkling wine but I may disappoint as I didn't get carried away, although it would be very easy to, and I walked out with just 2 bottles.

I had to ask for the Delamotte NV as it wasn't on display. They'd only just got 30 bottles in after a recent tasting session, and they said it was very good.
Looking forward to trying them both.

Glad to hear I'm not just talking complete gibberish then!

I honestly don't think you'll be disappointed with either. In fact I bought a bottle of Gosset today as an anniversary present that came with a bottle stopper (who the hell needs one of those!), and 2 glasses.

and today I received a bottle of Pol Roger Réserve from work :). Previous years it's been a bottle of Berry's cheapest, but they've pushed the boat out this year. I'm assuming they got a discount from the £40 price, buying 200+ bottles.

I've just found out that the '95 Louis I went through far too quickly is now going for 200 a bottle. I paid 60. I went through 8 of them dammit.

Given your dieting it wouldn't have done you much good anyhow - you wouldn't have wanted to gain 8 * 140 pounds.

Thank you, thank you. I'm here all week.
