Spec me Some Good Champagne

I haven't drunk the 85s yet, they're being saved for my wife's 30th, hence the year. I'm looking forward to the Krug though. It gets a cracking rating. That's only March 26th so hopefully she'll share with me.

The 2007 was actually really nice. First 07 I've had and it was really nice and smooth. The 2000 though had soaked through the cork, so was sadly not good. I still drank it though, you know. Waste not. Shame really but the risk you take.

This is my Friday night.

I found out that we have a load of boxes full of Krug in the office. Apparently for clients, but I'm trying to hint to the right people, that I neeeeeed a bottle.

It's the missus's birthday today and I have pushed the boat out, champagne-wise. I got the Champagne Lallier Zero Dosage Grand Cru. A bit hefty at £52 but recommended as 'exquisite' in pretty much all quarters. Nothing too good for her

Nice, I'm not sure I've had that one but I've had the NV as well.

Funny this thread popped up as I got decent news last night, so I went out this afternoon and took back a bottle of '04 Brunello which was bloody expensive but corked (2nd bottle I had and took back. Hmmph) so they replaced it, but didn't have any more. I was going to buy something nice for me to have tonight anyway, so grabbed a couple of things.

I then went to another shop and got a couple more, as I clearly shouldn't be allowed out on my own.

@Tuppy, I saw that today. There is a big "trend" with the zero dosage/ extra brut/ starck/ whatever you want to name it. The very dry numbers. I have to say, I don't mind it, I've tried to try as much as I can :p haha but sometimes it's just a bit dry.

That's a ridiculous haul!

For anyone interested Costco have Bollinger NV for £26 which is a bargain.

Also cheap but less tasty. Majestic have Moët 2006 Vintage for £30 if you buy 6 bottles. A pretty decent saving.

I bought the wife a bottle of this which we drank last weekend. Very yellow in colour but tasted very good for the price.

Ive also stopped working in Manchester which makes me sad as there's no wine shops near me anymore :(

They do the basic Bouzy here, which is about 16EUR a bottle, which you can't argue at for that.

I've got the Thienot as I liked the look of the bottle. Philipponnat seem to have changed their labels, so thought I'd give one of their new ones a try.
Then I just got carried away.
