Spec me Some Good Champagne

and we won't know if there will be a 2017 vintage produced until after the 2017 growing season.

Strictly speaking a vintage champers must be matured for three years so you wouldn't know until then. In reality, as Chonky says, grape growers and winemakers should have a good idea after the cropping and pressing (they can taste and test the juice).

Champagne is fizzy white wine from Champagne. Look on a map of surrounding areas and buy fizzy white wine from there.

Also the Champagne region of France was used as a rubbish dump years ago. The vineyards literally have rubbish poking up out of the soil.

Additionally very few people actually like it. Ask your friends.

It's popular with celebs because it's like the crack cocaine of alcohol. Gives a very intense quick buzz, so that you can feel very drunk but act very normal. This is important for celebs.

Otherwise, you'll realise it's overpriced garbage.

I'd be surprised the Bolly was better than the 06 Dom. I really rated the 06 I had a couple of months ago. You can't blanket say "I prefer the X to the Y" as years make such a difference, and even in vintages, it'll vary.

ah don't say that, have the chance to swap some airmiles for that very vintage, not great in terms of value for the miles but free dom pom is not to be sniffed at

while on the subject there is a restaurant I have been to a few times than puts dom pom on the, palate cleansing, sorbet

I asked the maître d' how many bottles they got through, his reply " 2 on on a busy night, 5 or 6 on a quiet one" :p

Arrived today :)

I'm actually lacking a little on the bubbles front tbh. I have a couple of bottles of Louis, I think mother has some Champagne down there, and I've taken some cremant down there but think I need a big bottle for the main day.

*goes to look*

I have a feeling "lacking" for you doesnt mean the same as it does for most people!

I have a couple bottles but nothing really special.

Nyetimber Blanc de Blanc, as special as i've got which to be fair is a very impressive wine.
Duval Leroy 1er Premier Cru Brut
Charles Lecouvet - Was free from Waitrose Cellar with orders over £100

An in keeping with my attempt to try as many English sparking wines, i've moved north slightly to Derbyshire and a bottle of Renishaw Hall

Saw a magnum of Grande Reserve Gosset the other day which i was tempted by, am looking for something a bit special for our 5th wedding anniversary so maybe thats the best option. Especially since it was our wedding champagne.
